I hardly spent anytime in the arenas as the music was shite, I can safely say I no longer like hard house at all and won't be doing anymore weekenders.

i still like hard house. some choice few are definitely good and some choice few are shite as fuck n canny be arsed with them but all the same i think hard house is good and its such a fun genre to mix with!

You've got to be joking. The hard dance scene has never been so good. What has happened is that hard house used to be the only recognisable hard music, now there are loads of styles to choose from. Hard house, Hard Trance, Hardstyle, Freeform, hard dance, hardcore and the list goes on.

 

I can appreciete that its each to their own but i fail to see how people think hard dance has gone commercial. If anything, the true side of it has gone further underground.

My opinion hon & im talking the London scene, I can not comment ref the northern scene.

 

I love freeform etc but im talking about good old hard house it has gone down hill IMO!!! aswell as some of the nights... but that is another topic

True, but that's because your in the south!!!! I totally agree that it has all gone commercialised down there. Thats' because they are trying to re-enact all the amazing hard nights that we have and invented up here, but with the (imo) cliquey(sp) scene and type of people down that way on it will never work.

 

I know when a few of my mates and me came down to Wildchild v Passion v all the others at Heaven we were absolutley amazed at "how up their own arses" most of the people were. Long gone are the days of talking to anyone and having a good laugh, like it was in insomniacz. But as for the music i really do think its good at the min, not the shite that most people call hard, the stuff that is hard and still has roots. Try and find an audio clip of "what you got left" by Jp & Jukesy, to me that is what HH used to be but not quite as bouncy.

 

You are always welcome to come up north and i'll take you out and show that real HH still exists!!!!

Also with the London scene it has become more who you know rather than talent IMO & it has become very selfish which in turn spoils the nights & puts an instant downer on everything if that makes sense

 

There are a few decent nights but they are smaller compared to certain larger events that I feel are responsible for this decline

 

It is as you say aswell the crowd & if the crowd are up for it & having fun nought else matters does it

i think the hard house scene probably is at its most popular right now and thus is thriving atm.

although in my opinion i think hard house was better about a year ago than it is just now. also i think the reason for hardhouse hitting highs is because euphoria focused a lot on lisa lashes extreme albums and then introducing bk and the tidy boys and then anne savage and cally and juice to mix CDs also ant the popularity grew since winter 2002 really. as part and parcel of focusing on lisa lashes, they held plenty events and she soon became an even bigger name in hard dance and a lot more people recognised it as a good DJ and most likely a good night and it grew and grew and now it is as lisa says in the competetive and commercial state although i have to say not up here in scotland. its rare to find HH in a club because all the clubs are chav/ned focused and play flip n fill fromage all night long.

so theres my opinion on that...

i am talking on a personal level for me it has gone absolute pants & TBH im not alone in thinking this HH took a dive music wise & hard trance broke through again big time, but again my personal choice HT is not as good as it used to be but is slowly getting better with Sentience etc boshing some wicked tunes together but HH got so crap most of the big names moved over to techno!!

freeform is the way forward for me at the mo & techno & psy trance have always been there but freeform is so much better than the HH being produced at the mo, do not get me wrong there are the odd tunes which are superb but for most it's dull...

 

The scene has changed so much & gone so crappy & selfish even my Tony has hung his headphones, he was playing most weekends in London but he just cant be arsed & has taken up production instead for his own bit of fun.
