i think kids should get more info on politics at school too i know for a fact that i hadnt a clue about what parties did what what was left and right wing etc when i was at school. Young people need educating more as a lot of people i think dont vote as they dont really understand what they would be voting for if you like

But at 16 you cannot drive and cannot drink. Yet if you were to vote u would be voting on issues outside of your remit, that cannot be right.

To extrapolate further, why don't we lower the age of voting to that when you are born sice the government is making decisons about you from that moment.

At 16 generally people are not sufficiently aware and more importantly not able to reason. Lowering the voting age would not resolve issues and would potentially give rise to extremist groupls as teenagers thought it funn to vote this way.

Also at 16 a huge amount ofinfluence is exerted over youngsters both by parents and the education system, it surely can't be acceptable allowing thos to vote under duress from their elders.

My teenage daughter has been kidnapped, and the people I work with may be involved in both.

I'm Federal Agent Jack Bauer and this is the longest day of my life...

But you can drive before you are 18.... I'm all for allowing people to have a provisional at 16. Also, does that mean that non-drivers shouldn't be allowed to vote? Afterall, they're voting on issues outside of their remit.

No, my argument is that from 16 you can make a very valid contribution to the running of society.

At 16 generally people are not sufficiently aware and more importantly not able to reason. Lowering the voting age would not resolve issues and would potentially give rise to extremist groupls as teenagers thought it funn to vote this way.

You mean some teenagers are not able to reason. Proper grounding in how society runs from a secondary school age may aleviate such issues.

Also at 16 a huge amount ofinfluence is exerted over youngsters both by parents and the education system, it surely can't be acceptable allowing thos to vote under duress from their elders.

And many youngsters rebel against such influences. That said, many 16/17/18/19/20 year olds start to settle down from such rebelions and think for themselves. Granted, many still don't - but that can still be the case when people are in their early 20s.

if at 16 u can vote then u should be classed as an adult and able to drink, drive and as 1 law is u cant even have homosexual relations till 18 by law.  well male on male sex anyway

Sorry Dani, got to disagree... Facts:

* At 16 your body is not necessarily developed enough to cope with alcohol.

* The age of consent for male/male sexual relationships is 16 - exactly the same as male/female or female/female sexual relationships. The age of consent was altered several years ago now.

Ok right for people that arent voting just a little thing to please try and get you down to the polling station. Labour want ID cards, this means you will HAVE to by law, carry one with you at all times.

A policeman thinks you look dodgy, he appraches you and demands for your ID card, u do not have it they can say wel i think your lying about your Identity, ur coming down the nick son!(and theres nothing you can do about it). How much of a wanker will that be?so please i dont usually vote but this yr i am, I DO NOT WANT ID CARDS, if you are like me an owe money to the courts then as soon as they ask you for it they will know your address, wot you have benn previously been charged with an if you owe money or whatever.

DON'T VOTE LABOUR (even though they do have theyre gud points aswel tongue.gif)

ur avatar is scarey lol

bukey ok i may be a bit out on times but as proved i am totally clueless to politics

and also many teens drink anyway age appropriate or not so if they can vote they can vote to drink early

leenlad i agree with id cards on fact that there is too many ppl out there who are dangerous and living a different lie on who they are and are attacking/ causing harm to more ppl. and also ilegal immigrants, all this terrorist scares and stuff it is all to protect from that and also age proof also and u will need one to go in and out the country i think they are a good idea as long as we aint made to pay for them as im sure as hell in past not got a passport paying 40 quid jus for id purposes
