Spent the last 3 days on fraser island doing a 4x4 self drive safari! Which was really cool. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world, and the 4th largest island off the coast of australia! About 120km from top to bottom and about 30 km at it's widest point.

We were given a itinerary after our briefing and were told if we got round it all we were doing really well. We got round the lot! cos we are sooooo good! hehe. Although we had a crappy van, which wouldnt stay locked in lower ratio 4x4, plus the people we got the land cruiser from had the tyres way topo high for sand driving, we got stuck loads! Our group were really cool people, 3 girls from Manchester - Helen, Karen and Vanessa, a couple from Chigwell (Llygaid thats your territory!!!!) Paul & Lindaas well as 2 lads from Amsterdam Mick & Jordi, who loved hardcore and hardhouse, the first people i met who like it over here, which was cool as we played all our music to each other, for all you CTW lot, they went to Dance Valley and are going to the 3 day event this year! Anyway back to the story! We headed off into the unknown. Paul drove the first day, with over inflated tyres, and we got stuck a couple of times, the first time not too bad, but the second we were knee deep in sand for 2 hours! wasn't good! Beforehand we had gone to a place on the island for lunch called lake McKenzie it was the most beautiful place ever! A freshwater lake that you can drink the water from, it tasted as good as the bottle of mineral water we had! We had lunch and swam in the clearest of waters i have ever seen! Then made our way back to the 4x4. We then headed to Eurong which is the first bog site we encountered, got stuck but were out in no time. Afterwards we headed about 50km up the beach! The beach is the main road of the island with a speed limit of 70kph, it has what they call washouts, which are little streams that run out into the sea, these are highly dangerous, so caution needs to be taken on this part! On route to the end of the beach we passed a shipwreck called the 'Maheno' which was the largest passenger ship of ots time, in 1905, and lasted 30 yrs til 1935 where it got caught in a storm and was washed ashore onto Fraser Island, and there it remains today.

Afterwards we headed up to India Heads! This is were we spent the next 2 hours going back and forth through the loose sand with over inflated tyres and a van that didnt want to stay in lower 4 wheel drive! Some aussie guys helped us and got us through in the end! I dont have any photos of this as Natalie decided not to get the camera out for some strange reason! ah well. I can get photos from one of the other group members and i will show you the state we were in!

After that we headed off to the camnpsite, by now the sun was going down and starting to get dark. Our Loights were total utter tripe on the van! What a surprise! Once we were in camp we set up our tents and then headed off to the cooking area and had the best bbq ever. Steaks, sausages, salad, corn on the cob, baked potatoes and a shed load of wine! No need to say we were all wasted, and spnt most of the night sat on the beach loking at the starriest night i have ever seen in my life! (better than Lapland). In the morning we headed off with sore head to the Champagne pools, which are a series of rocks which form pools surprisingly enough! At high tide the waves crash over them and form a jacuzzi like effect in the water, hence the name!

From there we headed off for lunch, then to the biggest creek on the island which was awesome, as we could swim in it and it formed a big pool on the beach were we played frisbee!

Back down then to the shipwreck and foind our campsite for the night, on the beach almost. We set up camp got a load of food on the go and set into the goon (wine). Nat and i had bought another box as we drank too much the night before. As we cooked loads of dingoes were hanging about, which was a little scary as they are right sneaky bastards! You turn your back to them and they'll have ya! Unfortunately my box of wine had itsd back turned and the fitlhy bloody mongrels stole my box of wine. It was gone! I was gutted!

Next morning we packed up and headed off to Lake Wabby which has huge sand dunes and a lake which is green in colour from al the tea tree oils from the surrounding area! We swam in it, and also grabbed a boogie board and did a bit of sand boarding which was cool! Afterwards we headed back to lake McKenzie for lunch and then to the ferry port for out boat ride home!

Last night we stopped in Hervey Bay again, had some food witrh our group and got wasted! We hammered wine, beer and sambuca!! (i've got a new way of doing sambuce guys! we are in for some fun!!!!!!!!) Got to bed at 4:30am and was up for 9 i now feel really rough. This has been ther hardest update so far as i am hung over and had so much to say!

This afternoon we head up to 'The Town Of 1770' which is meant to be really pretty, so we should have fun!
