i thought the whole point of bank holidays was that everyone got them off unless they want to work them

Not at all ... certainly not the ones that are 24hr 365 days a year!

 

 

And if your shift starts at 10pm on the sunday night (like mine will till 7am) then you don't get extra pay, if your starts on the monday at 10pm you'll get a full 9 hours at double pay + lieu

i know where i work if your shift falls on a bank holiday you get it off automatically, but if you choose to work your normal shift you get normal pay plus a day in leu. if you dont normally work it and work overtime, or work something different to your shift you get double pay.

 

and its open 7.30am til 11pm so dont get the problem of cross over shifts.

 

shame about you not being able to get them off though.
