and your not the only one who has to work to pay they're way, i think most people do. i know i certainly do.

and why the fuck should people have to pay for the privallige of going to uni, and then labour want to slap them with a graduate tax where they will have to pay a higher tax band just because they went.

dani if you are struggling you can apply for grants to help you buy equipment, and lots of colleges provide free child care for their students.

the LEA are your Local Education Authority. I'd get in touch with them if you haven't already because they are the ones who make all the decisions on what you can and can't do and what grants/help etc you can get.

I agree with Chris about paying for uni fees being a good thing if the money is going to be used on important areas like hospitals etc.

Of course it's not nice to have to pay for education and be skint for a few years even though you're working all you can to make up the money you need, but it is 'do-able' and i think gives students more incentive to actually do their work, attend their lectures and stay on the course til it ends as opposed to dropping out and fucking about the whole way through it.

Students from poorer families do get help so it doesn't alienate them from attending uni either, and there's nothing to say that someone can't do as Chris has and get a part time job to help you financially through uni.

If you want to do something in life then it's worth working for and if it means laying out some money for it then so be it, it's gonna make you more money in the long run anyway isn't it so it's not all bad. smile.gif

yeah but i don't see why people should pay for it when politicians take the piss with the way they spend the money. not only do they have wages but claim everything as expenses. if they cut their wages and stopped them from claiming unnecessary expenses (surely you use your wages to pay your mortgage etc - i don't know any other job than you can claim this as an expense) then maybe i'd think it was ok.

maybe then the government wouldn't be crying poverty as much.
