Ha ha, well, to be honest, I've never been into the money side of it when it comes to money, even though the money is good in I.T.  I've got a good paid job and I get a review every 6 months, but I'm in it because it's a hobby 'offline' as well for me.  Everything about I.T and my job is the fact every single day that goes by it's a different and unique day and every day you get the chance to spot your strengths and weaknesses in different areas.  Like on Friday, I learned something I was stuck on for MONTHS on a hardware related area !  Technnology is forver changing, and THAT's why Information Technology is such a unique and exciting industry to be in.  happydance.gif

Hahaha, you could be a spokesperson for IT careers if there's ever a shortage. tongue.gif

Yeah i know what you mean about it being a hobby though, as i love being on the pc and learning more about it and how it works etc so that's a big bonus and a big reason i wanted to learn more properly about IT and then go into it as a job. The money however will help us with our own house so it's a big bonus that IT is well paid as i wouldn't want to have to work a second job to pay the bills.

Nice having a review every 6 months too, can i please have your job? lol.gif

Haha @ waking up and wondering if you had work or not.. i'm always dazed and confused when i wake up.

As for the hours, well you'd have to love it to stick at it wouldn't you!! I'd love a job that i looked forward to going to though, as i can't stick at things i don't like very well. If i hate it then i'm always looking for the next thing to take my fancy, but as you say.. technology is forever changing so it also loses any boredom factor that a slower moving industry may have. grin.gifthumbsup.gif

They're in Majorca.. apparantly there's a bit of a heatwave on there at the moment too. Doesn't help that there's loads of programmes with beaches/holiday makers and other holiday stuff on lately. I am DYING to get away though.

Hahaha, it would have sounded even better had you not finished it off with such a word as 'goog' wink.giflol.gif

But yes, i could look into where the offices for your place is and if there is one in Manchester then i could keep it on my places to enquire at once i have a bit more knowledge couldn't i!! grin.gif

What did you have under your belt when you went into the job/interview? uhm.gifhuggles.gif

Start planing and start saving then ! I'm glad I can afford to go away now. I can't wait to hit the sun happydance.gif

Job / Interview - various things to be honest - the advantage to the job is having worked in a Technical Call Centre before and dealing with customers. I've also recently worked in PC World in the PC Clinic so was installing Hardware and Software for customers, errrrm, having studied the A+ Harware and Software course, ECDL, Windows XP knowledge, bit of Networking knowledge, bit of Linux knowledge ... all this was on my CV. None of which (apart from A+ and ECDL) are qualifications. I also had 3 Technical Tests at my interview. As long as you have a fair bit of knowledge to the role you are applying for and you pass any tests that are provided at the interview, then that suits the Employer down to the ground. You learn the rest in training, but more so, as you are doing the job (which is in fact the best way to learning). huggles.gif

Yeah we have been saving as much as possible but we can't decide if it's to go towards a house, or whether it's to go towards a holiday lol. We want too much. lol.gifeek.gif

Sounds good how they consider applications for employment though, a lot of employers could want more qualifications to start with AND experience which is hard to get if you've spent the time previously getting the qualifications you need instead of having a full time job. Also good that they set tests for you as it gives everyone a fairer chance based on what they know as opposed to what is down on paper.

I find i learn a lot better whilst in practice as opposed to sitting down and reading and trying to take things in anyway, maybe i should look to get some helpdesk work at some point so that i have at least a bit of working experience with IT instead of just home taught stuff?! xx

My advice would be YES. At least you get the experience HANDS ON to walk into an interview with But liek I say, it depends what role you want to go for. The position I have right now, is not what i want to be doing in two years time. My goal is to do as many of these courses as possible that I have from the company. I actually want to be a PC Engineer / Technican, but sinse being with this company, it's opened up a new world of opportunities and I can now see what things I can do and go for, like Computer Admin I'm takign an interest in now. I would eventually like to work mobile and travel all over the UK. Hell I don't know, I've an interets in a shit load and I'm expanding my horizons, but there are so many fucking areas in IT Claire, that you can be a part of, it's like being in a sweet shop surrounded by all your favourite chocolate bars and you can ONLY pick one but you just can't pissing choose ! roflmao.gifhuggles.gif
