lol.giflol.gif - i know what you mean about the sweet shop thing and i'm not even working in IT yet, i was looking at all the jobs i *could* do and was completely undecided about which i'd enjoy most.. and that's probably not even all the jobs there are.. just the main ones that people may be interested in. eek.gif

I don't mind starting at the bottom and working my way up as i get more experience and qualifications.. in fact i think i'll enjoy it as i'll be gaining valuble knowledge even doing the most menial of tasks in IT so everything will help. I would like to go in with a *few* qualifications though, just so i'm not feeling out of my depth if you get me?! xx

Yeah, I get ya. Like me then, you want as many qualifications as possible, because each time you want to change a job when a better opportunity comes and kicks you in the fanny, you can walk into an interview and they will be impressed. Put it this way, when I started my A+ Course, I was the only bird on it and my tutor was quite shocked when asked where I'd like to myself end up in x amount of years. When I went in for my interview, I was told there are very little females in this job / industry, (and I don't mean in terms of height lol.gif). To get to my point, most IT employers are taken back by the 'geekness' (for want of a better word tongue.gif) and interest from women ! For me, this makes me more determined to succeed in this industry. Men in IT get a bit offended when women start baffling computer Jargon, just like men get when women start going on about the spec of cars and what not pmsl.gif

Everyone starts off at the bottom. I did, and if I'm honest I really can't quite believe where I am at this moment of my life ! I've had a perminent glow on my face for the past month or so and I'm just generaly really REALLY happy with my life. I'm quite chuffed with myself that at 24 years of age, I know where I'm heading and I'm spoilt for choice by how many opportunities I have ahead of me. You're gona go for it, aren't you ? grin.gifhappydance.gifhuggles.gif

Yeah that's what i want, as if i have all the qualifications already then i'm already one step ahead and one step closer to where i want to end up.. wherever that may be lol.

See i want to be at the same place you are, working towards a definate focus instead of just trying to decide what to do and drifting along, i can see why it makes you happy to have the direction in your life.

I wouldn't care that it's a male dominated industry, would never let that put me off, in fact i'd want to prove myself to be as good (or better hehe) as any man doing the same job.

Hahaha @ little females though lol.gif

Well, you will get this when you start getting your mind into the open door that leads you into the room where everything is written on the walls for ya. You'll know soon enough if IT really is for you when you start your courses and then hopefully get into employment to gain some experience plus you would also be sorted for a reference when you work your way up smile.gif.. I've suddenly realised, once you start you can't stop, when you're in something that you completely click with. Like now, it's become my life, all I want to do is w0rk w0rk w0rk because I enjoy it so much. Fecking focuses are changing all the time though lol.gif

Also, I get on so much better with males than I do with females. Me and a mate who I used to work in NTL with, she applied for the same job as me, and she got it and we are on the same team. We are in fact the ONLY girls on the team w00t.gif and we have fitted in already .. thumbsup.gif

I can see that i'm gonna end up like you.. spoilt for choice with what job in IT i would like to do 'this week/month/year etc etc' haha!! I'm still trying to get my head round having an ambition to be an IT geek haha. excited.giflol.gif

I usually get on better with males too, don't really know why but it's always ended up like that so i guess that's not gonna bother me at all being in the minority.

oh dear god blink.gif

rather you than me missy wicked.gif ...hated doing the frickin' stuff at uni this year woot.gif ...took the piss even more that it were a 'replacement' for the multimedia module we were supposed to be doing, too rolleyes.gif (even more so that it were our core module for the stream that they removed/replaced mad.gif)...

its the Computing course at UCLan ...with me doing the Multimedia stream of it yes.gif ..although with them deciding that they couldnt be arsed to replace a tutor that teaches that module (the core one for this stream obviously!), and nor could they find anyone within the department willing / suitable enough to teach it (apparently rolleyes.gif), it meant that they (with only two weeks notice - on year two enrolement day) told us we couldnt do our core module, and that they'd replaced it with Networks - thus CISCO CCNA etc. - of all things (where's the 'multimedia' element in that?! blink.gif), or for us to transfer ourselves to another stream ...which kinda defeats the point of choosing one to do in the first place if they're just going to remove the core (and key / favourite) element of the module stream in the first place! mad.gif...

im not too sure how networks (or anything of that vein) could 'excite' you unsure.gif (i thought that the back of a taxi were more your thing wicked.gif) ...and the same could be said of me brother - who is in networks for a 'living' yeahrite.gif - but hey, each to their own eh?! grin.gif

To be fair, you can do a multimedia course pretty quickly these days and fairly cheap (if you have to pay) whereas the CCNA etc exams are usually pretty expensive to do.

Haha @taxi comment, hush it boy. I just like IT and the more technical side of it, it may not float your boat but if it didn't float anyones then the world of business and IT would be truly fucked. I however, am pleased to be learning/getting qualiications in IT like this. grin.gif
