you've never been to college have you? one on one tutoring my arse. you'll be stuck in a room full of giggling 16 year olds who are more interested in lads than learning hair dressing. and trust me dani you won't be allowed to cut or colour someones hair till your ready. my mate does the apprentiship thing with hair dressing and all she did till she was ready was make brews, sweep up, wash hair and take rollers out etc. and i'd of thought you would of been a better choice than school leavers as you're that little bit older and more responsible.

i just thought as you aren't exactly rolling in it, it would be easier if you were being paid to get a qualification rather than you paying them.

but whatever you do, i think getting a saturday job there in the mean time is a good idea as it will give you an idea on what they're doing and whether its really for you.

I went to a college where they had a hairdressing and beatuy salon...

The people who went to the college to do that course (3 years) are still sweeping floors and bits and shits.

Im just backing up what people have said... If you go to a hair salon, try for something a bit better than the one where your nan has her hair permed and coloured that horrible baby blue you see them with. Its a better route to go down.

yes ive been to college and im not talking a school leavers course theres adult courses too i have done on leaving school a year as an apprentice mechanic day release to college, 2 councilling skills course = a distinction in stress management and listening skills and qualities, half of a business and administration course where i had to quit cos i had home problems

colleges do offer one on one support if needed and a tutor and shops rather ahve school leavers cos they can get away with paying them 30 odd quid a week thats what becky got, i cant get a saturday job in a salon i have no babysitter think thats been established before and i aim to get qualified and then work part time for experience and then get onto mobile/ home hairdressing so i can work in my own time. im wanting to take it further from just hairdressing anyway to stylist so that will be 4 to 5 years in college a stylist has better prospects and chances in life as more advanced.

my cousins ex bf is a stylist he owns his own salon in nuneaton and has the best business cos he gets the weddings and stuff which he goes to there houses to do which if i can get that far will have better prospects doin it

have you been to your local college then to talk about starting there? if you wanna start in september then you need to do something about it asap.

to be honest dani they are the best people to talk about what you can and can't do, and how much you will need to pay, what equipment you will need etc.

but if you wanna go to an adult college dani chances are you'll have to pay for it as far as im aware.
