I just bought 2 IT books that my course tutor told me would be good to have for my A+ and Network+ qualifications, i don't know if you know of them or have them but i thought i would send you links to them just in case. They're quite expensive on the actual site but you can get them cheaper on ebay.

Those look really cool - if only I had time to read these days sad.gif James bought me a brilliant book for my A+ Course and I've barely had a look in due to having my head stuck in 2 manuals at college, and now I'm working, all I do is work and come home to sleep. sad.gif

I really need to take some time out and read ! I took a few books in work today and my college manuals and locked them in my desk to read when it's quite .. but I've only taken on extra work and dealing with a new client so time at the moment is very tight. sad.gif

Those look very good though ! thumbs.gif

They are amazing, i can't stop reading haha.. i remind myself of johnny 5 (i think thats the name) when i'm reading 'input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input input' etc.

I'm sure you'll get round to reading the book soon though hun, it's always good to have anyway my tutor told me as you can't be expected to remember absolutely everything so it's good to have the books handy to read back whenever you need to.

You sound like you're getting further with work already hun with the new client, at least the lack of time is down to something really positive and not just arsing about in a job with no prospects.

If you were to get one of them then definitely look on ebay as it's much cheaper on there, i got those 2 for £30 inc postage so less than the cost of one of them alone from any normal place. grin.gif

Cheers bird ! I'll tell you where you can go fish for books as well, me and James go all the time when we go to milton Keynes, Swansea etc ... I think it's called The Works(?) .. it's a book shop but sells a few other things like diaries, Biographies etc .. it's a bloody good shop and they have lots of computer books as well .. James got me the A+ one and a linux boko as well - think it was something like £8 each ! Make sure you have a looky when you're next in town. grin.gif

Work is cramped at the moment as I'm on my toes aloy lately with taking on a new client / contract 'The Law Society' and am taking on ANOTHER contract in the next few weeks to do with one of the Radiation Companies in the UK, really not something that's at risk of f*ckung up ! So it's all a bit streey-wee stressy-woo at times, but on the plus side, I've already had some good recognition from one of my bosses that they coudn't have wanted a better female ont he team eek.gifthumbsup.gif

Just awaiting feedback from one of the bigger bosses about the MCSDT course and if it's going to be official with the company .. if so, I'll let you know the details as and when I know what the entailment is. thumbsup.gifflowers.gif

The world sounds good, i think i have heard of it but i've never been in one (that i remember anyway haha) I get so spoiled for choice with all the books that are available, i want them all but i know i'll never have chance to read them all lol. I'm already a pc geek and i have only just started, i dread to think what i am gonna get like once i'm really into it all. eek.gif

Sounds good that you're getting all these clients and that your bosses are really pleased with you and acknowledging your good work too as it's always nice to be appreciated isn't it. They're actually trying to get more women into IT i read on BBC site, doing a bit more at age 14 so that they can get girls interested in it sooner.

MCSDT stuff sounds cool too, definitely let me know about it.. the more i find out the better, and the same goes for me if i find anything out that you may be interested in too.

Can't wait for college on Monday!! grin.gifhuggles.gif

Yeah I read that article, but to be honest, that article is fuckign shamefull if I'm honest ! It's like an article trying to get retards to run a marathon because normal people do it. If you get what I mean ? it's kind of embarassing when I think about it, they way we as women are sort of degraded. I can't put it in to words, as evar, I just hope you know what I mean ! lol.gif

It's a pisser that college is only one day a week, I've no idea why they do this for the A+, it's bizzare, but are they putting you on any kind of placement for some experience the Tuesday-Thursday ?

I've got another suggestion for a book for you, it's to do with Upgrading / fixing PCs and its all about Windows XP. It's a fab book, but I'll let you know after the weekend what it's called as it's at home and I'm not going home untill Sunday night now, as I'm away to James' straigth after work. I'v learned loads about XP and it's features that I didn't already know !

Woohoo roll on Monday ey ! happydance.gif

Haha yeah i get what you mean babe, too much forcing of equal opportunities.. if a girl wants to do IT then she will do it in her own time. I'm sure if we have managed to work our own way in life out that other girls will have the initiative to do so also. They make it seem like it's such a big thing when in fact women are just as capable of doing the jobs in IT as men are, if not more so insome cases i'm sure.

Collegs us going great, have been going in 2/3 days a week and they've told me that they're gonna try and get me through the course in 3 months instead of the usual year as i have some knowledge of things anyway and am picking other stuff up pretty quickly too. I don't think i'll be on any kind of placement as i think i will get experience in working on the colleges pc/network and a lot of hands on stuff just in general on the course.

Definitely let me know about that book, it sounds like a good one to have. I have a print out on binary for you btw, i'm gonna have to scan it in though before i can send it to you but it's made binary seem quite simple when i was actually dreading it so it may be of some use to you as i know you said about it being a pain in the arse. grin.gif

I have to wait til Monday for college now. sad.gif

WICKED on the Binary side - I really could use it and I hope I understand it this time round ! Sounds tops about completing the course in 3 months. I did mine in 10 weeks but I thought it could have been a bit longer to be honest because of the indepthness of the course and it's not really ideal to swim through it, and there aint much practical in it which I think is pretty shabby ! After the first 3-4 modules it gets in to the real nitty gritty side of things. CPU clock speeds, Buses, all the different types of Memory used on the System / Mother Board etc. And saying that I HAVE to take the Exam soon, possible when I come home from holiday ! I'm in bed and asleep by 9/10 most nights, I think I should sort that out as I have not had my head in the book for some times now eek.gif

I'm thinking of possibly doing the MCSE night classes at some point - probably after I sit my 2 exams for the A+.
