hmmmmm swimming i cant wait to be in nuneaton next week as stupid as it sounds they have a multi million quid supert complex with a great fun pool that goes outside and it is so lush in this weather

kate its jus a normal center no flumes but it is lush and its multi million quid thing cos the new sports field next to it and car park and fact it has an olymip pool with floating floor so it isnt too dep for normal swims but the floor is moved wen events are on and the fun pool has bubbles coming up from floor in places, parts tha squirt u, an out door part with a place u can lay down and relax sunning whilst in the water and bubbles come up around u in a jet streem that is relaxing and a jacuzi. plus a splash poo, for kids

New Pool Scheme Floated for Nuneaton

The designs are being finalised to spend £7 million and put Nuneaton in the swim with a new pool.

 

A floating-floor will be one of the features in the new leisure complex being planning by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

 

It will build the new pool in the car park of the present Pingles leisure centre, Avenue Road, and the existing building will then be knocked down.

 

Cllr Roma Taylor, who chaired the leisure committee meeting this week, said the old one would only close when the new pool is open.

 

It will have a floor which can be raised, and so lower the depth of the water – useful for sessions with disabled swimmer and learners.

 

Part of the pool will be outside, so people can swim from the indoor section into the outside world.

 

Cllr Taylor went with councillors and officers on a trip to see a similar feature at pools in Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead.

 

She said:

 

“The Pingles Centre was built 35 years ago and it is showing its age, and has reached the end of its shelf life.

 

“The new centre sounds very exciting and it is hoped to start building work next year and for it all to be complete by 2003.

 

“Swimming is very popular these days and we hope to encourage more people to join in as it is very good exercise.

 

“We thought it was very important not to close down the old pool until the new one is finished. We did not want to have to disappoint people.

 

“It is a good quality scheme and were very impressed with the one we saw at Aylesbury.”

 

The new Pingles centre will have a 25-metre pool with eight lanes and its retractable floor, plus there will be a learner pool and a leisure water area.

 

The centre will also have a fitness suite, dance studio, crèche and full facilities for the disabled.

 

The borough council is adding about £4 million to the £3 million that came from lottery money. The council has recently refurbished its other pool at Bedworth.

 

And just up the road, work has started on new swimming facilities in Atherstone.
