Got results for degree yesterday... im now the proud owner of a 1st in BSc mathematics

 

Just got one more year to go now to add an MSc in Pure Mathematics to that and I (hopefully) wont be doing maths ever again

Congratulations mate, but I have to know one thing.

 

Why are you doing them if you never want to do maths again?

 

In my mind thats like spending years studying to be a plumber then when you get fully qualified and certificated, getting a job as a taxi driver.

Why are you doing them if you never want to do maths again?

 

Because although I hate it, I generally find maths incredibly easy... When it comes to anything essay-based, im useless and have no idea where to start, but with numbers it all makes sense when I look at things and I have always got good grades in maths without really trying

 

Couple that with Maths being one of the most important subjects you can do (everything in life is based around maths, right down to music and our own genetic coding) and it makes sense for me to do it as a degree - even if I dont go into anything directly-related to maths, its a pretty universally accepted subject because of the fact it plays some role in all forms of life

 

I havent got a clue what I want to do after uni, so got another year yet to decide... who knows, I may even change my mind and start enjoying it
