Police evacuate Birmingham city centre

Is it an overreaction to the 7/7 events?

 

Or do we take the view that it's gotta be pretty serious to evacuate a city centre on a saturday night?

i think something would be up otherwise they wouldnt evacuate the city on a saturday night or let traffic in on the inner circle motorway

think, they didnt evacuate the city last night did they? Fridays are just as big a clubbing weekend night as Saturday is really.

there will be something different about tonight than last night to make the authorities do take this action.

But I can't help wondering if they'd have done this based on the same intelligence if Thursday hadn't happened.

Not only that, but after the IRA attacked Brum there was a massive backlash against the whole Irish community for the next 20 years. It would be far worse against Muslims if these terrorists were idiotic enough to attack Birmingham.

 

What ma be tolerated by the cosmepolitan nature of London will not be tolerated the further north you go.

BIRMINGHAM TERROR THREAT

 

 

Thousands of people are being evacuated from Birmingham city centre after police issued a terror warning.

 

West Midlands Police said no vehicles are being allowed past the inner ring road.

 

 

Around 200 bars, restaurants and clubs are being emptied and searched

 

A spokeswoman said: "West Midlands Police are issuing a public warning to people after they received intelligence to suggest a threat to the city centre.

 

"Our response needs to be proportionate in the actions we are taking and informing the public.

 

"We are not closing bars, restaurants or clubs but we are asking for them to be searched and for people entering the premises to be searched."

 

Outlining details of the road closures, the spokeswoman continued: "There will be a higher police presence in the city centre and access by vehicles will be limited.

 

"No vehicles will be allowed past the inner ring road into the city centre."

however true, the population of pure english/british increases dramatically the further north you go, however there are a shit load of asians everywhere.

the northerners wouldnt tolerate the attacks as much as cosmopolitan london has. it sounds like it will end in very irate racism but theres nothing you can do to stop it. i am not a racist myself but i would sooner defend my country in honour of england/britain against a forreign attack.

we're not thinking about war i know but thats my views i guess

I think the scary thing is that as much as "Joe Average" proports to be all embracing (i.e. non religous, non homophobic etc) it's instances such as this that cause people to resort to their "animal" instincts and fall into yob mentality. It's a shame that actions of a few mindless cretins can potentially divide a country along such lines.

 

We have to keep our heads up and go about our normal way of life and not give these moons the satisfaction of ruining what has taken us years to acheive. Our way of life is something that we should be proud of and not let it be destoryed in an instant, as that is when they win and we lose.
