It’s now day three in the tidy house as we all recover from a hectic weekend and a frenetic few weeks leading up to our tenth birthday party. We say ‘ours’, as this was everyone’s party. You, our brilliant tidy crowd, made the night for us, the tidy staff. From singing happy birthday to us at eight thirty before the doors had even opened until 6.00am when you just would not go home – we salute you!!!

There are some points that we also think need clearing up for you so that you get the real answers, not just conjecture on the board.

There has been some speculation that we were responsible for turning off the water in the toilets. Do you honestly think we would have done that? There was a point during the evening when we did lose water in the toilets, that we do not deny, but it was not because we turned it off. It was all down to the alarm system in Magna which, when triggered in any one of around 40 areas, cuts water supply to divert to fire fighting. This was rectified as soon as possible and did not happen again. That said, there was free drinking water available all night, from all bars, the medical room, and the front of both the main stage and face of steel, free drinking water is a condition of our public entertainments licence so we can’t not offer it.

Just a quick point on the toilets. As an organisation, before we open any event of this magnitude, we are under intense scrutiny from many government agencies, i.e EHO, Fire, Police and Licensing, and we have certain standards we have to meet. To suggest that we would or could open without the requisite number of toilets is a fallacy.

Moving onto the laminates, accusations of ‘rip off’ have been levelled at us for these. Why though? Is it not the accepted norm at most big events now that dj times are given via this medium? They also act as a great memento of the night. We do take on board that on this occasion the trance arena times were not correct, which we tried to rectify by placing 50 posters up in and around the arena. We would also add at this point, the laminate was sold at a pound cheaper than last time because we knew it was not correct on that one page. There was nothing we could do about the set times, we have to get the laminates printed well in advance of the gig, in order to get them ready for the night and in the last week, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to make some changes. We hope this did not spoil your night too much!

Where was the breaks room? Well it was not there obviously. It should have been in one of the bubbles but due to problems with licensing we took the decision to pull the marquee we intended to have outside. This meant a shuffle of the pack, resulting in the lack of a space to host the breaks arena, as we then had to move the trance arena into the face of steel and the hardcore arena into the bubble. It was a shame this had to happen as we had been looking forward to giving hardcore a bigger platform to show of its talent.

Special guest – firstly no it was not Rob Tissera! Neither was it Fergie! We thought it best to let you know exactly what happened with regard to the special guest situation at the 10th Birthday. For weeks we had confirmed a stellar trance DJ but in the days leading up to the release of the already printed promotional literature we were informed that due to album commitments, he was obliged to take an offer that came in.

This obviously left us in a difficult situation. We therefore took it upon ourselves to try, at short notice admittedly, to replace this dj. We have been in negotiations with a host of internationally acclaimed trance djs but for one reason or another we have just not been able to secure the person we wanted.

We still have a commitment to bringing the best talent to every tidy gig and will continue this into 2006…watch this space for some exiting news of events and new dj’s to tidy events.

Is this the last Magna? This is a very tough question, and our honest answer is, we just don’t know. If we had to give you an answer today then it would be no, but things change over time and next week it may be different. One thing is for sure, there won’t be one in the foreseeable future.

Finally, not withstanding what has been said above, we really do believe that between us and you, our tidy faithful, we have something special in club land. We truly believe Saturday was an awesome event and cannot think how are birthday could have been celebrated better.

Thanks once more for your continued support.

Keep it tidy

I was a bit dubious when I heard people sayin it was fergie. He was playin at Lush in N.Ireland on sat night. Id spoke to him during the week and he was planning on making a night of it and stayin at the hotel.

I spoke to his mum on the night (yes his mum goes to quite a few of his gigs when hes in N.Ireland) and she said that tidy hadnt even approached him about magna.

The only question I've got is if it wasn't Fergie, then why did Fergie's website have him down as being there...?

Overall though, I had a great night... At least Tidy have issued a statement rather than just ignoring things that some had issue with...

TBH, I wasn't that bothered about there not being breaks... Of all the genres they had, if they had to lose one then they made the right choice.

It took all of five minutes to work out the switch-rounds of the rooms...

I spotted the Trance line-up had changed and the posters within five minutes as well...

The water - there were prominent signs informing people of "FREE WATER AVAILABLE HERE", and bottles only cost £1.50 - well done, I say!

I just see it as an excuse for people to moan, as usual.

Classic Tidy fuck up full of pathetic excuses afterwards.
