It's such ashame to see CTW so quiet. This was the original friendly clubbing forum. It's where some amazing friendships have been made, and through it some amazing nights have been had.

Things in life are always changing, so I'm not about to harp on about "the good old days". That said, I think it would be great if CTW could get just a little bit busier. It's not impossible, other forums have disappeared for months upon months, come back to just a few people and evenutally picked up on membership numbers and therefore chatter.

Here's your challenge, should you choose to accept it... You have 48 hours to go out and get one new person to register and post in this thread. It should be someone that isn't already registered and doesn't have an account...

Are you up to the challenge?

the thing is - there so many clubbing forums theses days. before you could get away with having just a forum system and having people join, these days clubbing sites are far more than that - im a dontstayin users theses days, i've never come accross a website like that - fresh and a unique design, they have dedicated professional spotters for taking photos at events your also able to do fantastic things with the photo's via their website.

I think CTW would need a total makeover and give more than a forum system and a gallery.

I'm all for helping james and CTW dont get me wrong but with sites like DSI its going to be a tough challenge

The problem most people have with DSI is that it's far too complicated - and I say that as an techie IT nerd. I think DSI sets itself apart from many sites though because it does so much and does it so well. It just needs making easier to use.

I agree, CTW could benefit from some updating, but I still think it's possible to make it work. I've got one great idea that I'll speak to James about to see if it's feasible. I know time is in pretty low availability for a fair few of us these days though.

DSI has become what ClubTheWorld was working towards at one point. The big difference was that CTW was never about the commercial aspect, it was never about selling out (not saying that DSI did, it just had a completely different focus from the outset). The other downside for many people with DSI is the sheer number of people - it can be quite daunting for people that aren't already involved with a real world community to try and make friends on it.

I think both sites have the opportunity to offer a lot, and both sites can offer different things to different (or even the same) people.

DSI is a very very good sight. I've managed to track down lots of people on there that I know ! And I got spotted once or twice, and it's great to have the tag 'you've been spotted !' thumbsup.gif . Although I don't think any site will get as potentialy 'big' and 'known' as Gurn, Harderfaster and DSI, because all three are top sites, have the potential and they always follow through with their aims. It depends what you want the site for and what you want it to work towards, good luck with CTW though, it's been a bit like a boomerang realleh ! tongue.gif

I've totaly grown out of the Internet and moved on from clubbing and meeting up and all that now, I'v met so many different minded people, the internet just seems to be too fake and a 'front' these days, so I'm just putting my massive use of internet useage over the years down to pure boredom ! Some good things have come out of it, and some shit things too, hanging around one place for too long and getting deeply involved with something that paid off in no good way for me, just makes me realise that the way my life is at the moment, I'm not interested in this internet meeting thing and making friends anymore. I've networked enough frineds through work and outside of work, I'm seeing 'real' minded people that I don't have to worry about and getting on with. I've taken so many steps forward the last 5 months, I don't plan on taking any steps back like I was prone to doing in teh past !

The internet is dieing. tongue.gif

DSI is an amazing site - and they've got it spot on for what they're trying to achieve... Just could do with slimming down on the complicated side a bit. The three guys behind it are doing a top job, but the difference is that they have the resources to (admittedly, gained through all their hard work). I'm a spotter and have put up shitloads of photos now. It's the easiest way for my mates and I to keep track of them.

I use the Internet and clubbing sites primarily for work and to keep in touch with those in my real life friendship circle. Most of the people I converse with online are people I see at least several times a month.

I don't think the Internet will die, but it will certainly change over the next five years. I can't be bothered to just surf endless sites - I've been through that and am now too bored to bother. I'll follow the odd link here and there, and lookup sites for companies/products that have caught my eye - but I won't just sit and surf shite.

the fact is, anyone theses days can have a forum, i mean i host three IPB's of my own through a computer in my mates bedroom and it works great.

I imagine the impression alot of people get when they log onto CTW is 'oh.. its just another forum system' they'll register most likely will forget to come back because CTW as it is doesn't make a statement and doesn't make people want to come back.

I remember when i logged onto CTW for the first time, there was a rather funky design - now its just your standard IPB layout.

Clubbing sites have moved on and it seems now you need to spend time and money in order to build up a good community and in return for your website, install some commerical values into it to make abit of money back

Mark - I see exactly what you're saying. I agree, it needs to make more of a statement - CTW's values used to be on the front page. I don't think it needs to go down the commercialism route though, it's just not what CTW has ever been about.

You're hosting three IPB forum's off a computer with a residential connection? They must run bloody slow!
