** DJGRH – CHART AND LATEST NEWS FOR MAY / JUNE 2006 **

 

Hello everyone,

 

It was late last year when I last produced a tracklist / chart, so stepping into May / June 2006 and it’s time to update.

 

It’s been a while, but the New Years’ festivities were nothing short of superb : two gigs at Tidy New Years Weekender, one at Parlez Vous? and one at Exstatic clocked up the miles. I also really enjoyed playing at Hardhouse! Vs Round Bass over in Amsterdam just before Christmas – and then a really amusing outing guesting on The Tidy Boys Galaxy FM show just into the new year.

 

Since then, I’ve been travelling around a fair bit to the likes of Bristol and beyond, but London seems to be a popular destination at the moment with great gigs at the likes of Tidy London vs Extreme Euphoria, Carnage and Squelcher presents Red Planet.

 

I have also been assisting in a purely freelance role with Gatecrasher’s diverse marketing operation – predominantly working on press for their Nu Crasher, Crasher and Gatecrasher Classics nights.

 

DJGRH Recordings has now been launched onto Tidy Digital. In response to the success of mine & Paul Maddox’s ‘New York, New York’ that was released onto Tidy Trax over 4 years ago, our tracks ‘Detour’, ‘Live For The Danger’ and ‘Some Justice’ have continued to rock event after event. After the ‘Paul Maddox Live’ CD that surfaced alongside those of the Tidy Boys and Rob Tissera’s from Tidy Weekender 7, the tracks were again on hand to bring the house down. This brought a new wave of interest with message boards, which led to me striking up a deal with Lee Haslam @ Tidy, to unleash : ‘DJGRH Recordings’.

 

There’s also been signings and releases of other tracks with ’Metropolitan’, ’Heatwave’ and ’Illusion’ heading onto labels Housewives Choice, Neonate and Oblivion Digital respectively. I have also been working with a number of different artists on a number of different projects of late : Chris Hoff, Danny Ginn (current Radio 1 under 18’s competition winner), Yannik (Leeds-based rapper), Daniel Howard (lead guitarist / vocalist of Leeds indie band ‘Wintermute’. Must say a special thanks to Amo and Judge Jules for their consistent input on what we’re up to.

 

Completely non-dance music related, but really important to me, is the fact that I can now see my first holiday for 11 years (!) approaching on the horizon. A lot of people take the mickey out of me for saying this – but even though I’ve travelled to the likes of Ibiza, Holland, Finland, the USA etc in recent years, they have all involved some form of DJing – and do still have that element of ‘work’ to them. Yes, I know I’m lucky – but it’ll sure be nice to head off to return to New York City with my better half this July, taking some much needed time off, not fretting at the other end wondering if the record box is going to surface on the carousel.
