Innovate DJ Competition - Winner announcement & Event update

 

First of all, apologies to everyone for keeping you all waiting for the extra 24 hours. This was as a result of the exceptionally high standard of a number of the entries which led to the judges requiring an extension in order to deliberate and cogitate before making our final decision.

 

There have been fights, scratching, biting and hair-pulling as each of the judges had their favourites for different reasons.

 

The winning entry shall be hosted and streamed from the Innovate web-site as of tomorrow - www.innovateuk.net and the winner shall be interviewed for a number of the major UK Clubbing web-sites as well as the grand prize of playing alongside Nick Sentience, Mac Zimms, Phil Reynolds, MDA & Sphercal, Anton Nathrass and Nicki S at Innovate on the 20th of May in the Main Room at the legendary Fridge in London.

 

Before we announce the winner, special mention has to go to a few entries who made it to the final selection stage.

 

DJ Smybiosis, V-I-C, HiFreak1C, Steve Birch, James Ellis and Andrew Martin all submitted fantastic mixes which merited a 2nd listen and were all very close to being selected.

 

Now, onto the winner.

 

The winning entry has come from a 22 year old man from Leeds - PHIL METCALFE

 

Phil's mix was exceptionally well constructed and showed a maturity which belies his club DJ'ing experience of only 2 months. It had fantastic tune selection, great mixing and we collectively feel that he is a worthy winner of the competition and are looking forward to having him down to play for us at Innovate.
