they're not COMPLETELY different tho. i've been to the odd hardstyle night as well as too many hardhouse nights.

if you compare the difference between hardstyle and hardhouse, to the difference between either of them 2 and techno/trance/house/electro/breakbeat/hip-hop/etc then they will start to sound very simular.

its just small minded purists that are happy to goto a club and hear the same kick drum and hoover samples for 9 hours that think hardstyle isnt just a variation of hardhouse rolleyes.gif

if they really are different genres, then why the fuk is it soo hard to tell the difference between the 2 without having to listen to it for hours on end?

no one has a problem about telling the difference between techno and trance or hardcore and house tongue.gif

its just purists trying to re-invent the wheel rolleyes.gif

I just want to say, in my opinion, no form of music is better than the other. To me, they all have their uses. See, it depends on your mood, environment etc... as to what music goes well. If I am at home, Trance is cool to listen to, don't mind it in a club really as long as I am going to hear that. Hard House is better in a club to listen to, full lasers going off etc.... but not as good playing it at home. I don't write any form of music off, like I said, it all has its uses.

but (if i remember rightly) german hardtrance was just the old name for hardstyle before the hardcore crew gang raped it. plus german hardtrance was usually played in hardhouse clubs tongue.gif

For me, it has to be Trance... mostly euphoric stuff, sometimes dirty or sometimes hard trance.

I do like hardhouse if im in the mood but it all sounds a bit too samey samey to me now after bombarding myself with it last year..

Trance has always been in my blood since '96/97 and i believe its getting better and better again after a couple of years in the wilderness

german trance is stuff like Dj scott projects or cosmic gate stuff. Listen to the bassline of their style of tracks and that is essentially german trance

My opinion of hardstyle that its german trance without the trance. Basically that style of bassline with a load of noise. Nothing at all related to hard house imo. Completely different sounding basslines, sounds - basically the only thing they have similar is the drums.

I was going to post a gag about flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality but it's just flogging a dead horse.
