CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 9, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 9, 2004 QUOTE (Ikon @ Mar 4 2004, 17:19) QUOTE (miss_diddy @ Mar 3 2004, 20:42) I can honestly say I have not been to a HH event & seen a HH dj playing german hard trance, can you, other than C&J, but they get slted for it!! That's because they are Hard Trance DJ's, not HH one's! and how much hardtrance is played in hardhouse clubs these days at the end of the day imo theres too little differences between hardtrance/hardhouse/hardstyle/NRG/god the list goes on to warrent them being labeled as totally new genres. i have an open mind to music - both dance and non-dance. i own records from electro, house, breaks and techno, right accors the spoectrum to various forms of hardcore and dnb. i listen to everything and then select the tracks that i like. from what i've seen, the faster the music gets, the more anal people become about pegion holeing themselvs. theres no need. its just music at the end of the day. who gives a shit what its called. in 2 years time so smart alec will 're-invent' hard music under a diff name just because he/she bloody well can. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 9, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 9, 2004 QUOTE (Ikon @ Mar 4 2004, 17:18) QUOTE (Mr_Happy @ Mar 3 2004, 19:23) they're not COMPLETELY different tho. i've been to the odd hardstyle night as well as too many hardhouse nights. if you compare the difference between hardstyle and hardhouse, to the difference between either of them 2 and techno/trance/house/electro/breakbeat/hip-hop/etc then they will start to sound very simular. its just small minded purists that are happy to goto a club and hear the same kick drum and hoover samples for 9 hours that think hardstyle isnt just a variation of hardhouse if they really are different genres, then why the fuk is it soo hard to tell the difference between the 2 without having to listen to it for hours on end? no one has a problem about telling the difference between techno and trance or hardcore and house its just purists trying to re-invent the wheel Mate, you really dont know what your on about! explain why the only people that seem to know what hardstyle is, are the people that DJ it then Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW Members cupboardy Posted March 12, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 12, 2004 (edited) Hmm. Asking 'what type of music do you like'? then only giving hard house or trance as options isn't going to do anything for the problem about putting people off CTW who like other types of music. A more diplomatic way of putting it could be 'given the choice between these styles of hard dance..'. Most of us here are passionate about music. Don't assume that we are all passionate about the same sort or set of genres. (for the record, I like hard house, done well). CTW Members nuthead53 Posted March 15, 2004 Author CTW Members Share Posted March 15, 2004 yea i knew ofcourse people are going to like otherstyles. But sinse i see these two as the main styles (you may think differently) i wanted to only have these two, i also knew that it would course some intrestin discussion between people. Im not sure if i worded it correctly but i wasnt asking what is your favourite style of music all together, but simple between the two styles which i stated, but like i said i may have phrased that wrong. CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted March 22, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 22, 2004 Ikon, Instead of being arrogant and taking the piss out of people who have a different definition of "hardstyle" to you, why don't you explain it in your own words? The question that springs to mind is: if "hardstyle" is a proper genre, how come no-one can even agree on what it is? If you can't explain what it is, how can you expect people to respect it as a genre in its own right? Everyone agrees what "house" and "trance" and "hard house" are, why not hardstyle? Just a guess... is it because it's a tiny, pointless pigeonhole within another genre? I mean, posting "but what about hardstyle..." is like me posting "but what about deep progressive tech house"? I wouldn't try to justify "deep progressive tech house" as a genre in its own right, it's just a hybrid of other genres.
CTW Members Mada Posted March 22, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 22, 2004 (edited) nice and simple poll?? no way it is!!! thats like asking to choose between hearing or vision! for me i wouldnt be able to choose. ever. end of story. both of them are amazing, and are more adictive than nicotine and possibly sex! as for calling hard trance, trance that is hard... why not just call it hard trance. hard trance banana look at him go! CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted March 23, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 23, 2004 Already tried that link mate... I'm not becoming a member of that board just to find out your definition of hardstyle! Why don't you explain it in your own words? Or post a link that works? Or cut-and-paste a concise definition? Or post a link to an MP3 which is a good example of hardstyle?

Although I do suggest you do join Blackout Audio as there are some really good Techno forums on there. Im not a Techno fan but I do find some of the convos on there interesting. Anyway I will just copy + paste the rough guide into another topic and that way everyone can view it and we can start off another debate. Quote Welcome to the Darkside! CTW Members Jessica Rabbit Posted March 30, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 30, 2004 Choose Hard House - but then again there is a lot of shit, bland, generic hard-for-the-sake-of-being-hard house around at the moment. Have grown to love trance more and more, but there are so many variations of trance (just as there are variations of house ) that you can't really put them all in one category.
