CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 3, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 3, 2004 why is it that the faster the dance music, the more the need for people to pigion-hole it? its like hardhouse, harddance, hardtrance, hardstyle, NRG, Nu NRG, Hardtek and then theres all regional classicfications like german hardtrance, italian hardstyle etc. WHATS THE FUKIN POINT?! hardcore is just as stupid! its like the moment a producer creates something original and creative, instead of people complimenting them on their inginurity, they say "its not proper hardtrance as its got a slightly fuzzy bassline". CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 3, 2004 Author CTW Members Share Posted March 3, 2004 not even 5 years ago tho, hardtrance was just called hardhouse. and producers like jon doe were releasing the same kinda of harder euphoric sound that they are now. CTW DJs Chris-Hutchinson Posted March 3, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted March 3, 2004 QUOTE (Mr_Happy @ Mar 3 2004, 08:46) not even 5 years ago tho, hardtrance was just called hardhouse. and producers like jon doe were releasing the same kinda of harder euphoric sound that they are now. this is true I blame those silly music mags - they invent new genres every issue... It always seems to come about when a 'sound' gets classed as "cheesy" or "outdated" - just repackage it under a different name and nobody seems to realise...or care? Thats only reason I can think of anyway :-/
CTW Promotors Lisa Posted March 3, 2004 CTW Promotors Share Posted March 3, 2004 you say that tho, but you get a cd of each & listen to it & there is a distinct difference, although it's confussing with so many sub genres now, but there is a difference!! CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 3, 2004 Author CTW Members Share Posted March 3, 2004 QUOTE (miss_diddy @ Mar 3 2004, 12:25) you say that tho, but you get a cd of each & listen to it & there is a distinct difference, although it's confussing with so many sub genres now, but there is a difference!! yeah, its variations on the same theme. you could take 2 trance tunes: skydive and energy 52. they sound very different in trance terms but they are still labeled as trance. imo theres less of a difference between hardtrance and hardhouse if every tune sounded the same then genres would get stangnent. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 3, 2004 Author CTW Members Share Posted March 3, 2004 I find it easyer to say 'i like dark music' that way it covers electro though to hardhouse and even non dance music too Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
CTW DJs Ian Cashman Posted March 3, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted March 3, 2004 classic example>>> Marco v vs Jens 'loops and tings'. its trance and its hard, but it aint 'hard trance'. its just marco v doing what he normally does. hes a trance dj but im sure if enough hard house heads 'discovered' him, it would soon be labelled as 'hard tech' or something equally as daft
