Picotto Interview

What was your best gig of last year and why?

The 2006 was my best dj year, the closing of Meganite Ibiza was the highlight of the year, I played untill 11am with the crowd still going crazy.

How are you finding Ibiza, has it changed much since you started your residency?

I heard people saying that Ibiza was going down, I can say for me it gets better and better each year.

How would you describe your music style?

Always changing but at the moment I’d say Electronic Acid House with a BPM range around 130.

What's the craziest moment you've ever experienced as a DJ during your set?

Can’t remember when or where, but somewhere in England. A guy fell from a balcony and landed on my back while I was djing. I was also headlining an event in Caracas; the party was in full swing. Some guy walked into the middle of the dance floor and shot another guy in the head. That was a bit crazy.

Which CD did not leave your CD wallet last year?

I always have a CD with my most popular productions. They never fail me.

Name one of your personal all time classic tunes?

Too many to mention one, but Baguette, Iguana, Lizard etc. :-)

Name your biggest influence?

Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk

Where's the most bizarre place you've ever DJ'd?

In a clearing in the rain forest, outside Medellin Colombia. The promoters (who will no doubt go to ecological hell) made a clearing for about 5000 people. The backdrop was a cliff face with a waterfall cascading down it. There was multi-coloured giant parrots and monkeys swinging from the trees. A very enjoyable but surreal experience.

How many tracks do you buy and receive per month?

It’s all about MP3’s now; I get around 150 a month.

How will dance scene evolve over the next years according to you?

More sex, more electronic music and more fun!

Scott Bond Interview:

1) Its been over 3 yrs since you departed Gatecrasher, will it be an emotional return when you step up to the decks?

I’m really looking forward to playing Gatecrasher again in a few weeks time, its shaping up to be a wicked return! The Amount of emails I have received about this is unbelievable; lots of the Old regulars are making an appearance J

2) Can you tell us what Scott Bond has been doing since your departure?

I’ve continued DJing my beloved Trance sound across the globe.

After I left, I was involved in the Ahead project for a while putting together an award winning album and a few club nights before joining forces with London legends WiLDCHiLD.

We’re currently putting together a new Album, a brand new Trance record label project “WiLDCHiLDbeats, and obviously our London Shows

In Addition to this I have now signed with UWM in the Americas to be my exclusive management.

Im also just putting the finishing trouches to new scott bond vs solarstone track . will definately be playing it in sheffield on the 17th

3) A lot of djs are playing the increasingly popular "Tech Trance" what can we expect from you on the 17th Feb?

My sound has never heavily leant towards to the “Tech Trance” side of the genre.

There are some really strong producers in that field that im currently supporting, such as Marcel Woods, Sander Van Doorn + more.

Expect my trademark pumping Trance sound along with some old Gems!

4) The 3rd Feb you will be playing Classics at Media by Gatecrasher, which 3 tracks would you consider the biggest Gatecrasher Classics?

1 – Apex – Virtuoso

2 –Out Of the Blue – Out Of the Blue

3 –Adagio – all versions

5) You must have so many good memories and experiences which have built up over the year, what have been your highlights?

The award-winning albums, the NEC shows and the Summer Sound Systems were some of the best highlights to be involved with but I suppose the millennium took some beating.

The club itself back in the republic days was wicked to look forward to every week

6) What would Scott Bond be doing today if you hadn't become a DJ / Club Promoter?

Probably be joint king of the playboy empire alongside my old pal Hugh Heffner

7) Which djs are going to be hot for 2007?

Marcel Woods

Alex MORPH

Reece Elliot

8) Have you got any tips for up and coming djs which want to be the next Scott Bond?

Word hard, try your hand at producing, get some promotions off the ground so you can play alongside your favorite Trance DJs

9) What has been the biggest change within the industry for you? Music? The People? Technology such as CDJ's / MP3's / EFX units? and has it helped or hindered the scene?

The explosion of the internet has probably been the biggest development in Dance Music – from promoting events to downloading tracks, everything nowadays seems to be geared towards an online world. For me personally it’s been the shift to CD I play all my sets now 100 % CD.
