Another year bites the dust…and with that, Lot 49 look to 2007 with a jam-packed schedule of heavy-hitting Tech-Funk that will no doubt delight and destroy any dancefloor that might get in the way. Our first offering of the year is absolutely no exception, bringing in a newcomer to our little family, we welcome James ‘30Hz’ Ginzberg to the Lot 49 release schedule and he kicks us off with a top-draw EP for your listening, playing, (and purchasing) pleasure.

American-born but Bristol-based, many of you will know James from his own Vertical Sound imprint which he originally set up as an outlet for his own breakbeat bangers, the label quickly diversified to include other producers such as Circuit Breaker, October, Baobinga & ID, Smithmonger – all of whom share a love for basslines filthy enough to make Paris Hilton blush. Known for his quick-mixing bass-heavy DJ style, 30Hz has become not only an up and coming breaks DJ to look out for, but he is fast becoming known in House realms too (particularly of the Tech-Funk nature) where he can be seen lighting up gigs across Australia, Europe, and America, and he recently performed a 30-minute showcase for the legendary Annie Nightingale on Radio 1.

As for his ‘Space Age’ EP, the Original begins roaring out with a relentless bass, and the track builds electronically into a full-on 4/4 workout with tripped out vocal that’s bound to mess with the minds of the slightly uninhibited. There’s an element of filth in the parts of this track that let you know 30Hz means business on the tiles.

Moving on to the Alex Metric remix, Mr. Electro-bleepy himself brings another dimension to the tune in a full force breakbeat remix, turning up the filth (if that’s possible) and bringing electronic to a whole new level. In his typical head-bobbing, fists-pumping style, if you’re into a bit of bass-heavy breaks this is the one for you.

On the flip side, 30Hz teams up with Meat Katie creating a big bass roller in true dirt style style. With a female vocal floating amongst the stabbing percussive build-ups, there’s a nice lady trapped in a naughty song here. Not for the faint of heart.

And on the final track of the EP, James joins forces with October supplying an unforgettable slice of techy, bassline driven House with a splash of Techno thrown in. A drop down and build up which will officially mind fuck everyone on the dancefloor, if you at all unsure, this is proof alone that 30Hz is a force to be reckoned with.
