The Words Bloc Party normally conjures images of squares of Lino, boom

boxes, Nike Air Force Ones and Afrika Bambaattaa yelling “Rock Rock Planet

Rock”

Yet this is a whole different type of Bloc Party, no longer is it just

another name for a jazzed up street barbeque. It is as most of you will know

it is also the name of one of the biggest bands in Britain at the moment,

and in this vein, Drop Names Not Bombs are officially throwing the

unofficial after party for the final night of the foursomes sell out UK

tour.

Working on the theme of something old, something new, something borrowed and

no Deacon Blue, we are proud to present Manchester legend Peter Hook. The

founding member of two of the most influential bands of modern times (Joy

Division/New Order) playing an exclusive DJ set of records that influenced

these two seminal bands, as well as a selection of what is making him smile

at the moment.

So with the old taken care of, we have also thrown together some of the

finest young (you can see where this is going with that theme I mentioned

cant you) DJ talent currently around. So DJ’s on the night include Jamie

McHugh, the current darling of the electro scene, whose remixes and tracks

are currently filling the bags of DJs such as Hernan Cattaneo and Sasha and

has recently played out as far a field as Shanghai and erm Shoreditch.

The scene’s young upstarts are also represented by south London electro

pimps, Filth and Splendor, Dirtbox Resident Alex Collings, Bete Noir founder

Rich Weller, latest Rebirth signing and resident John Donaghy and dirty lil

upstarts EJ Wagner, Tomasuchy n Name Drop himself (the self professed one

man Indie-rave party Juggernaut).

As this is the after party for the Bloc Party gig the queue will be, well,

round the Bloc, so come early, come dressed up, come loaded or just come as

you are, as we also have some great bands on the night, these must be kept

secret, as is the trend at the moment.

Normally then to finish, this is the part where we tell you, “come to our

party, we got the baddest DJ’s this side of Berlin, we got glow sticks,

laughing gas, burlesque and a midget with tourettes playing bongos and that,

basically, without a doubt, we are R the bomb!” Some of that is true, some

isn’t so you will have to come and see for yourself… I suppose?

Oh and we don’t have anything Borrowed or any Deacon Blue. Splendid!
