Gay Marriages.

Was watching it on the the news this morning (I was up mega early ) and Arnie is thinking of banning it.

 

What are your views on this ?

 

I personally STRONGLY don't agree with making gay marriages illegal.

 

I think it's pretty appauling that because two people who love eachother very much of the same sex, are getting pointed at all because they want to make a commitment to eachother.

 

What are you views ?

Why should it be banned?? If two peeps love each other & wanna express that love, by vowing to one another, then why not!!

marriage between two ppl who love each other no probs...could a child be brought up in the "best possible environment" betwen two same sex ppl? (just an open question)

 

the person who votes yes tho - entitled to their opinion? ! but giving a reason is always a good idea...

yes, I agree Phil, totally entitled to their opinion, but explain why they feel that way!!

 

As for your pount about children, yes why not, if two females or two males can provide a love, attention & a good stable home, then why not!!

its a topic i dont wanna get into, cos im not anti gay at all, i just think the idea of gay marriages is dumb.

 

marriage seems to mean fuck all nowadays at the best of times... this kinda thing makes it even more of a joke..

this is the sorta topic everyone will want to be seen as all PC and for gay rights (which i am too) but i think its just another step down the slipperery slope to confused values and all that.

 

i dont really feel that strongly about it so im not gonna argue my point all night, but it just comes across as a joke....

im actaully not a fan of marriages full stop.

nowadays,people dont fight for there marriage,they dont try to make it work and get thro the bad times.it seems that its alot easier nowadays to just give up and move on. even worse is how people really believe the grass is greener on the other side,by having affairs etc.

i even know some people who stay with there partners for 2 years and when lust turns to comfortable love they go to another relationship.

however,if 2 people,whatever sex,find each other and truly love each other and fight for each other and wont give up and the first,second or third hurdle,well,then i say good on em and go for it,whatever sex.

 

i do like the idea of blessing tho. my gay mates got blessed in dominican rep,i think thats sweeter then marriage.

i cant see the problem myself, i was in a marrige and it only lasted 3 years, whos to say to men wouldnt last a lot longer than that.

 

as for the kids thing, dont even get me started

 

my X-husband walked out of my kids life's last night, so dont give me the bullshit that hetro marriges mean a lot more than gay marriges, its the individual person that counts, i would rather my kids have 2 mums/dads that care for them than one that tries hard and one that dont give a fuck!!!!

Mod1, I do agree that we shouldn't change the law for the sake of political correctness. As an atheist I do not think that there is something special or magical about marriage.

 

However there are some very specific reasons to get married. The main one that springs to mind is as follows: in the event of the death of your partner, you are exempt from paying inheritance tax on the money you inherit from them.

 

You have to ask yourself, why should straight couples be exempt from inheritance tax and not gay couples? I.e. it's blatant discrimination!
