CTW Members thegallery Posted February 28, 2008 CTW Members Share Posted February 28, 2008 THE GALLERY Friday 29th February Room 1: Sander van Doorn (Album Launch Party) Pedro Delgardo Wardt Gavin Mytchel The Viceroy BDK Room 2: Hosted by Joy Alex Gold Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan Steve Lee Room 3: Hosted by Elektrotek Gleave K.A.R.L. (3 hour Set) Steve Hitch KOTO February is rounded off in style on Friday 29th February as Sander van Doorn launches the most eagerly anticipated album of quite some time at The Gallery, by not only giving that main room a good going over, but also by cherry picking the line-up himself to include top tips for the future and artists he admires to create the ultimate Sander experience. When it came to deciding where to start this tour, there were only two words that flew out of Sander’s mouth – The Gallery. It’s the place where it all began, and it’s his only UK residency, which has seen him become one of The Gallery’s most loved DJs as well as having April 2007 renamed Sander month resulting in him playing every week for an entire month! It’s a place he calls home in the UK and with his sets becoming stuff of legends; it’s more than apt that his new album ‘Supernaturalistic’ should get its release party here. Released just 3 days after this premiere show, this long player is a must for van Doorn fans, and in fact anyone with a taste for music of the sublime kind. Amazing, superb, brilliant; we can call it what we want – this album is what dance music should be about, and is about. Some statement eh? Well, the proof is in the pudding, and with over 30 tour dates already confirmed, and that’s before June has arrived, this first outing at Turnmills is an absolute must! Sander will headline proceedings dropping a very special 2 hour set. Not only that he has also handpicked his support DJs and so joining Sander in the main room are Pedro Delgardo, Wardt and Gavyn Mytchel. Pedro Delgardo enjoys a reputation as large as any DJ in any other genre; one of those rare types in the world of techno. Owner of Ying Yang and a prolific producer and remixer including recent work including remixing ‘That Horn Track’ by Luke Slater for its anniversary release. He manages to cross over with ease into all realms, finding fans in electro right through to tech-trance. It’s this appeal that explains the almost roster like nature of the Delgardo fan club from within dance music community, including Carl Cox, Eddie Halliwell, Sasha, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Marco Bailey, James Zabiela, Marco V, Ferry Corsten, Umek, and Corvin Dalek to name but a few. A regular worldwide from Monday Bar in Sweden to South American techno events, Pedro is the real deal in every sense of the notion and a perfect accompaniment for Sander. Wardt is another of Sander’s top picks and joins the line-up off the back of an incredible 12 months. One of the first signings by Sander to his Doorn Recordings imprint with the track ‘Show My Shuffle’, he’s also known to some under his Re-Ward guise and is a rising star with tracks being snapped up by not only Sander, but Tiesto, Armin and DJ Preach for their respective labels. Trust us... he’s one to watch and we said that about Sander and look how big he’s become! Completing the main room bill is Gallery resident Gavyn Mytchel and partner in crime The Viceroy who round it all off in the usual Gallery fashion! T2 welcomes its end of month Joy with Steve Lee the master of ceremonies as always. Tonight he is presiding over the return of Alex Gold from the white isle as well as the legendary Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan. Alex Gold comes to town hot off the heels of his Ibiza Thursday night residency at the world famous Space for his Xtravaganza parties. Hard at work on his new artist album, which we are expecting to hear bits from, Alex is a popular Joy guest so expect the usual madness to break out!! Jim ‘Shaft Ryan’ meanwhile is defiantly one of clublands establishment figures, an internationally respected DJ, a talented remixer and producer, owner of Miss Moneypenny’s and Chuff Chuff brands. Should be a giggle! And last but by no means least, T3 welcomes K.A.R.L. and his Elektrotek label for a very special showcase. After shooting to everyone’s undivided attention in the past few years K.A.R.L. has gone on to stake his claim with DJ gigs for pretty much every self respecting promotion from previous outings at The Gallery to the Antiworld 070707 festival. Elektrotek is a label that knows no limits, pushes boundaries and tears up stereotypes and this ethos is extended to appearances from rising producer/DJ KOTO and the hugely talented Steve Hitch alongside this very special 3 hour set from K.A.R.L. Headline action comes from the Irish producer / dj talent that is Gleave, his infectious Irish charm and good taste in music has seen him rock dancefloors worldwide from recent gigs with Paul van Dyk in Australia to playing at Fergie’s Excentric parties in Ibiza!
