what about the monty python lot as well, imo the best comedy show ever. Some of it is very period, but most of it is timeless classic after timeless classic (NB this only counts for series 1+2 of Monty Pythons Flying Circus as 3+4 got a bit pants imo altho there are some quality shows in the later series)
