erm other than attending loads of meet ups since I joined in Mid - 2002, supporting James, Kev, SarahPVC and loads of other people in the background. Often being the only CTW member involved in another CTW member's event or night. Promoting Funky house so that we wern't CONSTANLY swamped with hard house. And lastly and perhaps least posting items that stimulate debate, and try to help people to see a different side of the story, (tho normally to little or no effect.)

And you don't think other people are doing that already, do you ?

If i were to call myself a funky house monkey, hmm ther's a thought ...or Ed Don & Fin Trance monkeys..i'm not sure they would be bothered. What is it about hard House that makes people who like it so paranoid.????

This is not a hard house board; This is not a hard house board ; This is not a hard house board ; This is not a hard house board,

It is a clubbing and meet up board. The fact that people think it is a hard house board, is another matter. Harderfaster.net is a hard house board.

When i posted, about CTW, there was an even chance it was never coming back. What i posted was true, and factual, in the main. Often the truth hurts.

ee

Since when have people said that this is a hard house messageboard? nowdays events suggestions are almost as likely to be for trance events as they are for hard house, and generally a few funky hsoue/whatever events mentioned as well.

you seem to have a bee in your bonnet about the topic of hard house, it just happens that a lot of the people who joined ctw happened to like it. i'm sure it's not just me who seems to get the impression that you look down upon hard house. Who are you to say who/what type of people sould be joining up/ cos that's the distinct impression i get from some of your previous posts.

as or you being the only ctw member at certain events. well if it's a type of event where people wouldn't enjoy cos of the music policy or at least not mind it, then do you really expect lots of people to flock to it? i presume you're partially talking about when Michaela as aprt of Human Zoo(?) has booking for various clubnights?

As for people the comment about "hard house monkeys", the thing is it came across as being condescending, and you've always as have other people quite often vocally expressed about how it's shit and boring. this ahppens a lot more than people slagging off funky or trance or DnB.

what truth exactly is meant ot hurt by the way?

that's my two-penneth for now anyways.

hey phil

you don't always have to ask a question outright to be questioning something...

if he has been making comments about ctw on other sites, then how can he expect anyone to really care about what he has to say!

i'm not aware of the other comments you are referring to can you post a link or post the name of the board?

QUOTE
i have joined many forums and never posted because the forum was never right for me for many different reasons. members joining and not posting must happen on every message board so its not really just a 'ctw' problem

well yes but that's completely irrelevant isn't it? should the fact that other boards have problems prevent CTW from wanting to improve and grow?

in what sense could the fact that a lot of CTW members join and never participate or join and then participate at a negligible level (in what is, you have to admit, the most accessible interactive aspect of the site) be considered a good thing?

Alasdair - there was a huge argument/slanging match, etc. on the seriousworld messageboard forums. that thread hs since been deleted or dropped off the active topics page.

do we really need to be having this argument in this thread?

i've only read up to the last few posts on page 2 becuase it just turned into a bitch.

personally i found ians figures an interesting read. granted he didnt have a point to it and there was nothing wrong with pointing that out. but how on earth did such an innocent thread turn out like this?

Laurence I dont think anyone wanted it to turn into a bitch, but al were just originally wondering what Ian's post was about & what point he was making, then for him to make issue's of the site not doing well, well I guess it just got peeps backs up, is all, yeh the site may not be as busy as the old board, but as James has stated, it's not about numbers, it's about a community, who get along & meet regularly thumbsup.gif

This is way too heavy- i'm a big fan of statistics though in themselves they tell you nothing ("lies, lies and damn statistics" as the epic Marc Twain once said).

I found them interesting, nothing more nothing less.

The reaction seems a little over the top to be honest.

the HH monkey comment really should be dropped- it's hardly the most offensive thing anyone could say?

It wasn't about anything. It took about 10 requests from you Louise and Maria, and others asking what it was supposed to mean for me to reply, with what I thought the figures meant. Which people then chose not to read.

You assumed I had an alterior motive for posting it and Shen asummes i don't like hard house, cos of the HHM comment, And the fact that i think we have too much Hard house on the board.

Nb i do like hard house, just not so much any more. i think andy farley, and tara reynolds are great dj's. I don't remember ever actually slagging the genre, in public.

nnb I didn't have an alterior motive for posting the stats.

nnnb The posts on seriousworld are still there, and easy to find.

nnnnnb well said russ especially when you look at the really really offensive stuff said by many other people on seriousworld at the same time.

nnnnnnb these are my last word on this subject.

Well, thanks for everyones comments - they are very useful and its good to know how we stand.

I think there were some issues with the old board and the way we got too many people involved in the running of it - whereby I would change my mind every 10 minutes. I can assure you this is now not the case on this new board/launch.

I think the outlook is once again positive for us as a community and it shows by the kinds of groups of people wanting to work with us & for us. I do personally feel we are on the up again but as ever I'm in no great rush for any more 'success' than we have already had.

So long as members continue to enjoy the site and meeting up with each other I and the rest of the team and members are happy. Of course there are still lots of things to 'try' and put right but I will be honest and say I have no control over the actual types of members we have in the community today. The people are constantly coming and going and changing their personalities. Its like predicting the weather as to what the atmosphere is going to be like here next week, let alone next month. However I think we're really starting to learn now how to enforce guidelines and there is definitely some respect again for the good of the community.

As I say its good to hear the negative & postiive feedback so keep it coming - but remember we (as a whole) can only 'try' to improve ...
