Question: Do we really need a "This Weekend" forum ?

We have "Future Events & Suggestions" so do we really need "This Weekend" anymore - not many people seem to post in there ? Unless I'm missing something and they are being moved to "Past Events" - which is entirely possible.

James, to be honest I think there are way too many forums. I don't really care which ones go just I think it'd be better to keep it simple and cut it down a bit.

Thats my thoughts anyway [Happy]

This weekend needs to STAY as discussed earlier! Its the only place where people know what others are doing, it was taken off last time and nobody knew where anyone was!!!

 

I move "This Weekend" events once they have past to "Past Events" but it needs to stay!!!

Creamy - agreed - I wasn't thinking straight last night - I just saw there weren't many posts in there, but of course you move them to Past Events. Agreed we need to keep it - it was also the intention that peeps 'follow up' and reply to their own topics to say how the weekend went.

 

Tara - I chop and change my mind - at the moment I think we have it about right but perhaps could do with losing say 2 forums max.

This weekend has gotta stay. Its easy for people to find out what is going on as soon as they log on. Me or Creamy move the posts out of there as soon as the weekend is over.

I dunno SLUK. I was thinking about this earlier.

By keeping a reasonable number of segregated forums like we have now, people can just view the stuff they want.

If we amalgamate them together anymore, then you'll end up with people being pissed off 'cos maybe Smut stuff ends up in Random Chat or whatever.

Looking at the list of forums as it stands, it's pretty well balanced. We've got a great representation of clubbing and music, which is the main thrust of what we're about.

 

A moot point I was considering was maybe would the 'Welcome Newbies' be better right at the top? so it's the first thing they see?

why can't we have a serious forum?That way me and alisdair could pull up a pew,boil some coffee and sort out world affairs once and for all,goddamit!

hey james dave et. al.

 

i guess there is a possibility that you could fiddle with this endlessly and still feel like the balance isn't right. i had a think about this and came up with the following thoughts - for what they are worth:

 

1. "ClubTheWorld Schedule" forum is unnecessary.

 

discussion of these 'official' scheduled events can by put in "Future Events & Suggestions" (which could be renamed to just "Future Events").

 

you could then have a table on the home page which outlines the name, date and location of the events - as you do now and people could start event-specific discussion i the "Future Events" forum. this means there is an immediate reference for anybody who logs on (the home page).

 

2. same is true of "This Weekend". discussion of this weekend goes into a more generalised "Future Events" forum but you have a snapshot on the home page so people can see immediately what's coming up...

 

3. All 4 forums in the "Music" section could be combined into one "Music" forum. relatively speaking, there does not seem to be enough traffic to have these split out the way they are now - it seems very artificial right now

 

4. "Club Reviews" has very low traffic - why not just merge it into "Past Events". i appreciate the distinction between a club and a space but i think the amount of traffic justifies merging these.

 

that's it. net effect is change from 21 forums to 15.

 

oh, if you want a "Serious" forum so flakey and I can put the world to rights, that's 16... [Happy]

I personally think we need the Scheduled Events section as this is where us member can keep track of where we are DEFINATELY going as opposed to possibly suggesting going (future suggestions). We put the section up initially for moderators so that we could keep track of where the others were going & who was confirmed as going with us.

I agree with Alistair with the music section - maybe it could be condensed more?

The club reviews section i also think is necessary as this is where i put links to when i email clubs and thank them for their hospitality etc. It is good for them to see a special section dedicated to reviewing their clubs which i think is important. I think this section should be restricted to moderators (or the person who is responsible for the review)unless members would like to write us their own review of the club rather than just a few lines of comment. I think the Past Events section is where the few lines of comment etc could be posted.
