I got a mate that is living near LA i think, if i remember correctly. He a fookin brainy git, but he's from good old UK.

 

He does complain about some of the silly aspects about the US but there are also good things. But he does think the US clubbin scene is behind the UK somewhat.

 

As soon as we both saw this news report on the BBC News website we were talking about the legal system in America and how it's virtually all structured by the lawers to make money. Or as he put it

 

the sharks will always hunt for the bigger fish. Sad but true the UK is heading that way, monkey does as monkey sees.

How did this post pass me by! Well, I must say what a [censored] cheek these fat people have got by suing these Fast Food companies! You dont need to be Einstein to work out eating yourself stupid will make you FAT! Obviously these fat kids have run out of spending money for more Big Macs, Whoppers etc and now they're turning against the only people that probably ever made them happy! I think its disgusting that these fatties are suing for over eating when we have kids out in Africa who cant even find something equivalent to one single chip just to keep alive! Did McDonalds send round the mafia with guns forcing these people to eat? NO! So they have no right to sue! Instead of suing, speak to Slim Fast who would love to help out!

you see a humourless participant called 'alasdairm' getting way too serious about an issue we should all be laughing at...

 

i see a bunch of messages from people having a laugh at somebody else's expense and throwing nasty insults at people they've never met before.

 

as with so many things in life, this is probably a case of expectations and maybe i just expected a little more...

 

i guess i'm getting serious again here but i've made my bed, i better lie in it.

 

i was really happy when i discovered this board. i'm 6000 miles away and it was great to connect with some like-minded clubbers... it also looked from the forum, like some of these people were interested in discussing some 'real' issues.

 

hell, if i want to read a stream of messages from a bunch of club clones saying nothing but "nice one geezer", "quality tune, mate, quality" and "what a bunch of fat bastards those stupid americans are", etc. i can log onto any one of a million other clubbing-related boards.

 

i chose to participate in CTW because i thought it was different. i's still like to believe it is different.

 

that said, maybe you're right. maybe i am humourless. maybe i could lighten up a bit. i need to take some time to see how i feel about that.

 

one thing i'm not going to do is just laugh along at the fat, stupid americans so i feel like i fit in. i'm not going to apologise for being myself.

We do talk bout more serious stuff but we can also see when a post is meant to be light hearted!! Not havin a go but i do kinda skip down the page on ur messages cos they can get a bit lonh and drawn out for me personally!! Thats probably what neil etc were on about!! well, there's a bit of a catch-22 there because in most cases, you don't know that you didn't want to read something until you've read it

 

if people stuck to on-topic messages, it would be easier (which is what the 'chit-chat-shite' thread was about as far as i can tell).
