I fcukin hate 'em!

I have not been able to get online for the past 3 days due to some bastard Virus completley taking over my pc!

It happens around the same time every month for about 3 days and then everything is fine again, when it appears it wont let me run any programs on my pc. I have ran a virus checker but it didnt come up with anything although it was a free version of some virus checker so it probably didnt work properly!

It effects these files within Windows - WSOCK32, Sirc32 and Scam32

If anyone knows what it is or hop i can get rid of it then let me know!

I would just re-install Windows but i think this virus has also attacked my CD drive as it hasnt worked ever since this virus appeared!

Anyways im back now, until the same time next month that is!

i know this will sound arrogant virus infection is generally down to users lack of awareness. Sircam was mainly spread via hotmail.

there are some good free virus killers out there. If you want some links to them i will post them up.

Yeah i agree!

Thing is i have 3 younger sisters who also use this Copm and they aren't as clued up as me about viruses 'n [censored].

They open loads of attatchments that have been sent to them without thinking or event knowing about the risks!

If this virus is the one SLUK says it is then i dont know how i got it coz i have never used Hotmail!

ive had sircam sent to me about 50 times through hotmail but even to my work account etc. It just sends out to everyone in an address book so if you're in anyones address book who was infected then ull have got it. luckily my AV flagged it as i opened the email first time around

from a security aspect the general public are a great way of spreading or using.

I got on average about 100 scans from trojan scanners. That's alright if you haven't the particular trojan in your machine. But then again most AV software is crap at scanning trojans because they have a strong link to be programs.

Being that, that's why i have a trojan scanner on my machine as well as GNAT, NPF and NAV. Depending if i've got a DZ running then my router firewall take over from GNAT or NPF.

The fact that the majority of users on here right now have NetBEUI running is again a huge security risk due to the fact you can scan for NetBEUI connections and then have access to your hard drive, and you don't have to know much about computers to do that as you can simple use Legion to do so.

The more security aware we are the stronger we are at stopping viruses to spread and being attacked. As in most cases in the term of general public having your machine turned into a "zombie".

if they are downloading by tricking you then the company in question can get in trouble. It's like illegal advertising in the sense of selling something that not what it seems.

thank god for cable as i don't use dial up anymore. I'm always aware of these bloody pesky things. I have a pop up killer too, as bloody pop up advertising is driving me insane.

if more people complain about this action that these twats are doing then they will be focused on a lot more. They get away with it because people don't like to mention the fact that it was porn based.
