Anyone watch Trisha this morning ?

I watched this this morning and was mortified and really angry, and il be honest, it even brought a tear to my eye.

For those who did not watch it, it was about an 18 yeard old boy who recognised the fact he was gay, when he was 13 years old. He wrote his mum a letter when he was 13 to explain to her that he thinks he is gay.

He never was attracted to girls. He had and only ever had one serious relationship with the opposite sex, for 3 months. When he kissed her, his words were "it didn't feel right". Obviously, he thought / knew, he was gay and didn;t find any attraction in the opposite sex. Fair enough, He knows how he feels and how is head works.

Anyway, his mother and father refused to believe he was gay, and said "he pretends he is gay to gain attention".

Now he seems a pretty normal, average 18 adult, so I don't see WHY he would want attention, as nothing seems to be wrong in his home life.

He has a younger brother, who beats him, because his brother is gay, although, his brother is addomant (sp) that he is not gay and refuses to believe it.

He has been involved with men (a 53 year old off the internet) and has "kissed" him. This is, what he says, he wants. A relationship with another gay male.

Now his MUM putting words into his mouth (on stage) saying he is NOT gay and will refuse to believe it, seems as though she will not accept him, and will only accept him if he goes to have councelling sessions and they then prove that he is gay. THEN she will accept him.

It just somewhat annoyed me and upset me, upon watching the show, that his OWN MOTHER, being older and wiser, should KNOW, that gay people, don't choose to be gay, it just happens. How f^cking naieve (sp) can someone get ?

It's like when you fall in love, those feelings you get just NATURALLY appear. You don't MAKE them appear, and you can't or shouldn't pretend you are seomthing that you really are not.

Those who watched it, I felt deeply sad for him, because he just wasn't accepted as an individual that he rightly so is, and even his own brother said, he is ashamed of him.

I am hopeing one day this world will be full of people who treat EVERYONE as an individual and accept them for WHO they are.

It is still, a taboo thing with a lot of peeps & is hard to believe at times we are in the 21st century mad.gif

I guess every parent wnats a normal child & some find it hard to accept that their child may be gay or lesbian, for years we teased my sister, who does judo & spends alot of time with same sex, for being gay & as it happened she is, she was dreading coming out to my father, but ok telling my mother, the thing is it was my father who was dead cool & said I know, but my mother, well she found it very hard to accept & wanted it kept quiet etc, but now, well she has accepted & realised, my sister, is still the same daughter she gave birth too & is ok.

It is a shame that peeps cant open there eyes & realise that we do live in a society where we have straight peeps, gay peep & transgender!!

in years to come this probably wont be an issue but think back to the time where his parents were being brought up and thats where the ignorance comes from.

This is it exactly Phil, old fashion morals & standards, still stuck in a time warp.

It wasnt that long ago that they used to treat peeps who were gay, as ill & give them electric shock treatment etc & locked up on mental wards, sad, bit like the old war veterans suffering from post traumatic syn, how many years did it take for them to realise these guys were not mad but truely suffering. mad.gif

sometimes its not easy to change the way you think about things though, this i know myself.

while its easy to be mad at the parents view, they will be going through alot of turmoil in their own minds. it must difficult and hard for both parties

Oh god, don't, I get all the details of his sex life, including the messy parts!

Gettin away from the topic here.

I hate people who can't accept gay people as just "people". They're no different and it really makes me sick when people are homophobic. mad.gif

All the boy wanted was a bit of support which he isn't getting from his own family.

I can happily say that I am glad I i lived through the 90's and have seen how things / views change.

I know for a fact that when I have children and if any of them go through anything of the same, I would never shut them out. Il always be there to support them in any desicions they make and I will accept them.
