I have just gone and had a look at all that, those 4clubbers.net people, like priest, seem a right bunch of tossers. Just far too up their own arses, and I wouldn't choose to meet some of them on a nights clubbing.

I was wondering how I managed to get on a mailing list without subscribing. In this case it didn't bother me, as I would have signed up anyway, but it's not the right way of doing it. I can see how the 4clubbers users would be pissed off, would you like it if they signed you up for their newsletter ?

If there was a link on the home page to subscribe to the newsletter, that would be Ok, but the way you're doing it is wrong.

I'm not trying to start a flame war here, but unsolicited email is not the way to get your site a good reputation.

By the way I only 20 email addresses from an email which was spam to myself - like when I get spam through the post I post it back to them.

 

You were registered automatically when subscribing to the forum - so I could inform you of what we're doing.

 

Members can un-subscribe at any time - you have the opt out so its not breaking any laws

 

My company handles the EPS (Email Preference Service) for the DMA and its not live yet - even when it is it wont stop people doing this.

 

I find SMS advertising more of a pain than anything - you dont get a choice and cant stop it. Laws are changing and I will have input.

Ok, but you've got to accept that there's other people whose opinion differs. If I want to be subscribed to a mailing list, I can do it myself, I neither want or need someone to do it for me because they think I'm interested.

Ok, but is this made clear during the registration process, I wasn't aware of it, but I may have missed something ...

Fair enough, but why should I have to ? I have to unsubscribe from a list that I never wanted in the first place ? If every mailing list on the planet subscribed me to their list on the theory that I could opt out, then I'd spend my whole life unsubscribing !!

 

Sorry for the rant, and I'm not attacking you personally on this one, I just feel quite strongly about this .

Well its better to get clubbing spam rather than finance, or get a degree here, or lose 10 stone in a day, or young hot willing underage teens etc...
