***ClubtheWorld - the way forward

Okay, now lets look at things as they stand. [censored] petty rivalries, [censored] meaningless banter, [censored] the smut forum, [censored] it all to hell. The serious stuff is what we’re looking at today. The big picture. ClubtheWorld becoming a big name, and completely resetting the boundaries for all and sundry. In other words, whupping some serious booty.

But how? Global domination might only be an arms reach away, but we’ve still got to attain it in the first place. We need better advertising. We could link to other websites, hell, even get a few of us to take out a small advert in a magazine or something. I’ve enquired, and they don’t cost as much as you’d think. But that’s an afterthought. Going clubbing isn’t about reading a magazine. It’s about being there and feeling the music. And we want to give the people music that they can really feel. How? Hitting them on the frontline is a start, the business cards are a wicked idea, kudos to whomever came up with the concept first.

Woah. It’s all just come clear to me. Rushing whilst listen to southern sun (Tiesto rmx). You remember that feeling, the feeling when the bass and the synth and the percussion and the vocals merge, and it stops becoming sound. It becomes something that you can feel. It’s that feeling of 3am, arms raised aloft, becoming one of the many at the heart of the swirling vortex that is dance music. I miss it. Every second I’m away from a club, I miss it all. The music, the friends, the atmosphere, the heat, the smell, all of it. I miss people I’ve never met before knowing my name. I miss turning to the person next to you and pogoing around like a loon during the breakdown. And more than ever recently, I’ve not only wanted to be there, I’ve wanted to be the one creating the vibe. Anyone who DJ’s knows what I mean? I’ve been there before. 1000 people, shaking their arse til it breaks to something you’ve done. If you put on music at home, you enjoy it. If you do it in a club, 999 other people enjoy it with you. It’s intoxicating, and it’s the reason why so many of us go clubbing. Not for the music, but to be able to hear the music as part of something.

We’ve got the music. Someones already made that for us. We’ve got the DJ’s, and, forgive me if I’m wrong about this, but I’m damn sure we could raise one or two people to attend. All we need is a date and a place. But these are the finer points, which can be thrashed out later. The main thing is that we need to host a ClubtheWorld night. And [censored] me, is it going to blow all the rest out of the water.

Another idea I’ve had to further impale ourselves on the spike of success. How about an offical tune reviews section? Don’t get me wrong, this is as well as a forum, but an proper section for the reviewing of tunes, from ClubtheWorld guys. If we calculated how many hits a day we got, and the range of our audience, then I’m pretty sure we might be able to sneak our way onto some record company mailing lists. This is within our grasp, and it will become a snowball effect, as once we get it rolling it’ll hopefully grow in size. Plus we’d be giving a clubbers eye perspective of tunes that you won’t find in most normal magazines (remember, these are the people who rated the Eddy Grant remix). And we’ve got plenty of competent writers on the site, so we’re not going to be lacking in that sense either. And with the new servers, there should hopefully be enough space to accomodate this.

It was mentioned that we’d have a section on DJ’s of the site. Fantastic idea. We could also put all of the information into a kind of directory (not an agency), containing the DJ’s name, location and type of music. This directory could then be linked to from other sites, and could be mailed to promoters/club nights for added exposure, both for the DJ’s and for ClubtheWorld, as, if it all goes to plan good DJ’s will be associated with ClubtheWorld, and vice versa. The idea of having music playing whilst we browse is also a good one. There could be another way of promoting our DJ’s, and, particularly if kept up-to-date, could further convince record companies to part with those sought after promo copies.

Well, that’s about it for the moment. But please don’t just read this and forget it. As the slogan says “Clubbing the World – TOGETHER”. It’s only by working together that this is going to work. We need to get out there and make it happen. There’s a lot of great quotes, bits of advice and what have you floating about out there, but there is one which I think sums it up perfectly;

“You never regret the things you do, only the things you don’t do.” Let’s make it happen.
