CTW Members BenRW Posted March 17, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 17, 2004 (edited) my normal mixer i use cuts each setting by -26db and goes up to +12db (tascam X-15) another mixer i have goes from -30db to +10db (numark DM3000X) whilst i don't use the +ve readings that often, when cutting the bass to bring a track in, i find that the -26db is perfect and that -30db is too much if that makes sense. This means that i can't cut the -30db one all the way without loosing some of the higher end sounds as well. Whilst this isn't an actual problem it does mean that it makes me fck my mixes up occasionally as i cut it too much. Just wondering what values every1 else likes to use and whether they use the full range of that to cut the bass? CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted March 19, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 19, 2004 Depends on the tunes in question. Although I have bass "kill switches" & bass "knobs" (which can virtually kill the bass when all the way to the left) on my mixer, I never use the kill switches any more - I much prefer to use the knobs because you can be a lot more subtle. Best not to be too dependent on full kills either, as not all mixers have them.
