evidence suggests that sustained marijuana use (psychological dependence) can cause feelings of unrest, irritation, anxiety (particularly in social situations) and paranoia. a swedish study also claimed that young users are six times more likely to become schizophrenic.

i think they're probably right.

experiences and opinions please...

This is all very relevant to me at the minute. I've gone 10 days without a smoke now, which is the longest break I've had for at least 3 years.

I just had to stop. I used to be an inteligent chatty person. But in the last 6 months or so I founf thtat when I was out I just sat in silence, I just couldn't think of anything to say.

I also had no motivation to do anything. In the last ten days I've done more things that I've been meaning to thatn in the last year.

I'm not going to say that I'm giving up forever. But I'm going to go as long as I can and then when I eventually do give in try and keep it to an occasional thing. I'm definatly not going to get back to the point where it feels strange to NOT be stoned.

Anyone fancy a bongle with bungle?

yeah what bungle said!

my housemate has just had the longest break from weed for ages (9 days i think) and he's become much more like his old self, what he used to be like pre his 24/7 smoking. He's chatty and motivated and seems so much happier

I'm sure its not forever, but its nice to see him less paranoid yes.gif

I think what Bungle said is relevant to most people who smoke dope on a regular basis (i.e everyday)

I was in the same position when I was in my early twenties and to be honest I can't believe how much of my life I wasted smoking dope, sitting around with mates doing fuck all lacking motivation to do absolutely anything.

They don't call it dope for nothing.

I was seeing somone who had extreme effects from smoking dope from a young age. Whenever she had had a smoke (like now a days) It would seem almost that she had a split personality... It wasnt very nice at all, and it didnt last long (me and her) =(

Shes an absolutely wicked girl normally! When she had, had a smoke, she would either be really cuddly etc etc or a monster tbh.

The only good thing about it, is that she knows what happens to her when she has a smoke.

I'd definetely be inclined to agree with that Stu. I don't think it affects everyone in the same way. Some people seem to be more susceptible to the irritation and paranoia.

Speaking from my own experience I know that if I ever want to get anything done I have to stop smoking. Whether it be for that day or for a few weeks. It just makes me downright lazy and unable to cope with too much! Sometimes I can't even read a book if im really stonned. I can't concentrate!

I know it's supposed to give you inspiration which is does in small doses but when I was stonned all the time for a while (few months ago now) I think I lost all my inspiration. blink.gif

Never been that much of a smoker cos I didn't like the way that it monged you out the whole time and you never wanted to do anything - work or leisure - other than smoke more.

I found that sitting around with my mates, having the same bullshit conversations and not actually going out and having fun a bit soul destroying.

There's plenty of anecdotal evidence to show that weed makes you paranoid and can trigger psychosis and in extreme cases schizophrenia. If you think you need to cut down then you almost definitely should.
