There are very very few artists who in my record collection who are really consistently amazing, and it is rare that I actively pursue tracks by artists I've already heard of. So I would be talking shit if I said "x is one of my fave producers" on the basis of one outstanding track. For some reason I get much more pleasure out of discovering great tracks by obscure artists! However I could just about manage "1 per style" ... deep/funky: Tony Thomas - I always give a listen to anything by this guy. His productions are varied in style but always fantastically produced. progressive house: Chab - haven't really listened to any of this guy's recent tracks, but the nice Swiss chap had a spate of outstanding productions and remixes at the peak of the progressive era, and they are still exemplary tracks today. tech house: Mr C - surprisingly the cheesemaster has done some really great productions since his Shamen days. Some of his tracks are very memorable & tuneful, yet still really solid, punchy, clever tracks. techno: Rino Cerrone - this guy has a unique sound of funky techno that I really like. Can't say I like all his stuff, and sometimes it's a bit too minimal for my liking, but every now and then he turns out a corker. He knows a thing or two about funk! Umek / Kanzyani - these guys seem to turn out loads of quality tracks. Maybe techno purists would turn up their noses at some of the cheekier Recycled Loops stuff but I think it's great music.
