Police Crackdowns

El Cel (ex Angel's and Zulu's - opposite El Divino), due to celebrate its opening party last night, was not allowed to open by Police. Although all the staff were already in the club, many people were waiting outside and a celebration dinner had been prepared, Police were already there early in the evening to prevent the evenings festivities. Reasons unknown.

Just next door in Pacha, Danny Tenaglia's one off Independance Day party pulled in the crowds.

The Guardia Civil were joined by the Army at after-hour club DC10 at last Monday's Circo Loco party. Around midday, the Army, as many as 20, were seen helping the Police to stop and search the clubbers going in to the disco, very thoroughly.

Café del Mar has been forced to close after being denounced by a plain clothes policeman, who allegedly saw one of the clients smoking a joint. The staff in this case are being held responsable for not asking the client to stop what he was doing.

Workers at Privilege and Amnesia were searched as they entered the club before going to work, and many of them were found in possesion of small ammounts of drugs, either for personal consumption or to sell.
