Do you actually host this site yourself? Are you loaded perchance?

Hi mate - its ok to use the site at the mo - most of the stuff I'm moving at the mo is static - like pics etc...

I've just acquired a new dedicated server with my mate paul who, as we speak, is working on www.garlandsmademedoit.com - a tribute site to garlands (far better than that f*ckwit Ralph will ever be able to produce - hehehe) the reason for having a shared box is a) neither of us can afford the monthly costs on our own B) we have TOTAL control over it and can install what we want c) unlimited disk space d) more cost effective for data transfer but more importantly e) everything either one of us develop for our respective clubbing sites is made generic and re-useful for all other future projects - whether clubbing orientated or not. My DREAM to to leave my work and just do web stuff day in day out - I'm pretty pore at it and I know with time invested and using this stuff day-to-day I can become fairly good at it and perhaps make some money out of making sites for people.

I wouldn't say I'm 'loaded' no. I had about £300-£400 "spending money" when I lived at home at 19 years old, now at 30 I have calculated I have (minus) -£57 a month left after taking off regular direct debit bills - this doesnt even take into account going out / petrol / food - which probably explains why my credit card debts have shot right back up to 9k again (after paying them off 3 months ago!!). Then again I did just buy this house/office with Paul and there were quite a few things which 'needed' to be done (alarm etc..). Also, before calculating my monthly outgoings I was stupid enough to buy my new MR2 which I cant really afford but I must say its worth the money as its also 'piece of mind' that its gonna start in the morning!

Like my dad I've always 'lived beyond my means' and I do 'waste' a LOT of money - I'm getting better recently because I simply have to but I'm pretty despressed today as I have to live with the prospect of not being able to go out every weekend like I have been - although occassionally I can get free guest list for photos / reviews which obviously helps. If you look at most clubbing sites you will find there is no real hard money to be made - just discounts etc.. I dont even run this site for this I really DO do it for the love of the music & clubbing scene which is why I'm really trying not to have adverts on the site. Of course, when the site is finished I'm hoping that this site can act as a 'portfolio' of what I can produce and this will hopefully lead to other paid-work for businesses. Again though, I'm not counting on it - if it all ends tomorrow I'll still be well 'chuffed' as I've met 100s of people already which is what CTW is all about.

OOOOOoooooooooppppss - banged on again there!!!!!!!!!!

Nah,its cool mate, I'm impressed that you have your own server, and an MR2, I've still got my clapped-out Toyota Corrolla, but then if I look at all the money I spent on music gear (which is now worth a quarter of what I paid for it), Keyboard £600, Sampler £1000, Mixing Desk £300, Guitar £400, PC £1100, FX Processor £300, Monitors (speakers to you laymen) £200, Amp £200, hey, that would be a nice motor, or would clear most of my debts!!!! So I am looking at going out once or twice a month, but hey, I just sit in and try and write tunes, and just have to remember that the band does have something about it, and I reckon we will do well (in a sub-genre kind of way). Even if I get to perform live, just once, in my favourite club, then it will all be worth it.

James, kudos to you (goes american), because all that you see here is yours, and no-one can take that from you.
