CTW Promotors SarahPVC Posted August 1, 2002 CTW Promotors Share Posted August 1, 2002 After spending what seemed a lifetime stuck in a hot car in an endless queue we finally arrived at the gates of Global Gathering. We made our way to the press tent and given a warm & helpful welcome by the godskitchen press crew. Straight in the gates & into the VIP area, no queuing, easy as that! The site was vast! Far bigger than i remember it last year, all the arenas were set around the variety of fair ground rides. Godskitchen had really gone to town on everything this year, the tents were bigger (a couple appeared to be as large as the main arena!), there seemed to be more food stalls &the fair ground was larger and had more variety of rides (note, they still had the one that hurtled you round in circles 100 feet in the air at 70 miles a hour!!) I made my way to the Sundissential arena just in time to see Andy Farley banging out his usual faultless set! The crowd were up for it & the atmosphere was wild. I went backstage to say hi just as he was finishing and Anne Savage was taking over. She started her set with some hard trance which gave the already hurting ears a bit of a rest! A bit of silliness followed that involved Mr Farley pushing me around the stage on a scooter and picking me up & spinning me round til i was nearly sick! Just proves that some of the DJs are as down to earth as we are! Lab4 followed with their usual madness, these guys know how to get the crowd going! Rob Tissera next and played his now common set of old remixed tunes like 'You're not Alone' (original by Olive). He couldn't let his set finish though without 4-motion 'Over for me' (this was CTW predicted tune of Global Gathering!). As he came off stage i had a word with him. I thanked him for doing what he does best (entertaining the crowd). 'No, its thanks that goes to you lot, as without it, none of this would be possible!' he replied. Cool bloke! Lisa Lashes played next, followed by Ian M (he was harder than what i have heard him recently) - ears needed a rest again, so ventured out of the Sundissential tent and around the site for the first time since i arrived! Just caught the final glimpse of Lisa pin-up finishing her set before making our way out into the car-park and joining the never-ending queue to get back out again! Summary - Global is the best outdoor festival of the lot by far!
