forum idea

just an idea if the current state of the board is to become permanent

 

as the 2nd forum that new members are likely to read (logically reading downwards) the Site Announcements forum is a bit unexciting imo (how many new members are going to care about a new server?). Whilst i'm not saying reposition it, i'm suggesting adding to it. A while ago there was a 'ctw events forum' which had few posts in it (just the ctw weekenders and wildchild). How about including that with the site announcements forum so that new and old members can see any new developments for the site, and ne future meet up dates simultaneously.

 

Not sure if it would work (maybe pin the events so they're at the top and announcements below?) but i feel that the 2nd forum that new members are likely to see shud be more interesting and grabbing than what it currently is

yep, totally agreed Ben. Its just a question of balancing time at the moment - I do defo intend to get more content added. The reason for that forum was to power the homepage (as the features and interviews section do as well) but I think you're right in that unless there is up-to-date information in there the section should probably be removed for now. Also, items like these are currently being dumped into the forums because i'm still working on the templates outside of the forums. If I could spend a few days just doing this it would be sorted in no time !

 

If anyone here is good at writing articles/features etc.. let me know ! We've had people 'come and go' so frequently in the past - we're after dedicated news/feature writers etc.. - difficult to find, especially when it's on a strictly voluntary basis..

 

If you have any other ideas for content and what people would actually find useful on this site please PM or respond to this topic ! I dont think we should blatently 'copy' other site's sections but we probably are very thin on the ground at the moment.

 

Most of my contribution in the future will be in the form of setting up properly searchable & submittable (word!?) venues/events - nicely integrated with the members/photos/etc and who's gone where when. (like many other sites are doing today, but hopefully in a unique way).

james, you know too well im happy to help wherever i can. music reviews, charts, news, club reviews etc.

 

I also thought it would be a good idea to officially review members mix cds, there are loads flying about and it would be good PR for them to have a dedicated page with all cd reviews on it?

Top idea.... maybe get 2 or 3 people doing a review for each cd at the same time so you get more than one persons view on it, could also work on new tunes ect to....
