Ratings.....

Too things here, one of them perhaps a little bit of a gripe.

 

1) Don't see the point of rating posts, people should be able to make up their own minds about whether something is worth reading or not.

 

2) (this is my gripe) Even though I was off for about the week the site was being moved, I come back to find my old rating (of which I have been voted down SEVERLY) has been reinstated. Have the old ratings been carried across, or have some c^nts been voting me down despite the fact I've made no posts in about a week?

The post rating thing is probably all part of the forum software and i doubt very much you can get rid of it. Not that many people rate anyway.

Dunno bout your ratings, don't think they've been carried across, everyone was on 0 / no stars, so you've been rated down i guess.

Hate to say it Wub, but I as rated a 5 on the last board (I think James rated me a 5 for saying bands were more important than DJs), and I've got no rating on this board

i agree - i think the ratings are pointless.

 

i've been accused of being way too serious but i think that certain members take their rating way too seriously - complaining when they drop from 5 stars and moaning that the people who rated them down should 'own up' as if they have done something 'wrong'. it's comical.

just to let you know that when the board was migrated we lost all the old ratings so we are starting from scratch so you will have to re-vote.

 

In a way this is good as you may know the members a bit better now and can vote more accurately.

 

In a way this is bad though as you still cant change your vote on a member once you've voted - you only get one vote per person.

 

I'm in mixed feelings about the voting but for now at least I cant [censored] out how to switch it off but may do at some stage. I think people tend to vote people down if they see they are already on low star counts so I agree with Alasdair that its pretty pointless. I will look into turning it off as its not really a fair system.

Not so much the profile votes, but voting down individual threads seems a bit odd.

 

Still, if it can't be turned off it's no biggie.

I've voted EVERYONE a 5 so far - all newbies, even with no posts - this is because if they have bothered to register on the site then they are like-minded to a certain degree which means they have something in common with me which means they cant be all bad and me being a generous person means I can only praise EVERYONE and give EVERYONE a 5 star rating - there are very few people out there who are on our wavelength so we need to keep together! (do I sound paranoid or what!)

 

Anyway, now that SOMEONE has voted me down after I voted them a 5 I think I will change my strategy and not vote until I've read at least 100 of their posts.

 

Or we should just ditch it !! ? lol
