CTW Members cupboardy Posted March 20, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 20, 2004 I've written this over the past couple of days when I really should've been working on other stuff. Oh well, the music must come first I suppose. Anyhoo. If you fancy it, download it. If you like seeing Terry Francis play, you may like it. It's a bit Dave Mothersoley. Download it from here. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted March 20, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 20, 2004 hmmm, i liked the percusion. alot. but apart from that, it seemed a little lacking. i must admit (as much as i like tech-house) i'm not that clued up on this kinda style, but it felt like it needed something extra mid way though. maybe something as simple as an extra cord subtile comming in Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted March 20, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 20, 2004 Nice work mate. I reckon you could do with some more variations on your main loop. Even if it's just another loop with a similar rhythm, or with some interplay between the two loops. Then you could try combinations of the two loops, e.g. filter one and focus on the other, and vice versa, etc, while still keeping the minimal feel. You could make the percussion a little funkier and punchier - try some low-pitched, syncopated low-tom / bongo type sounds to add a bit more bounce. Try adding a bit more shuffle / swing to the sounds on the alternate 16th-notes. This definitely has some potential, and I do like the very deep end of tech house, but you need a bit more "funk" and variation to keep the momentum. I have no problem with the production per se, and I like all the sounds in the track. Hope this helps.
