Ding Ding. Round 4 for the month of March sees Champion Sound jump in the ring with the infamous Liverpool based Chibuku Shake Shake.

 

As Chibuku celebrates its fourth birthday, there are some very special parties planned and one of the highlights is our forthcoming LIVE gig at Cargo.

Hosting the talents of the Shake Shake residents from across the board, including live Malawian hiphop from the incredible Real Elements, an awesome display from The Beats and Pieces band with a drummer who has to be heard to be believed. Chibuku favourites The Beat Monkeys who play everything from “funk to drum and bass to classic hiphop to party tunes and whatever else we can find” layered with their 4 deck and 2 mixer trickery and hugely impressive scratching skills. Plus the estimable talents of Phil Charnock and Sarah Sweeney who cite broken beats, jazz, house, hiphop and funky dubby tunes as their inspirations.

 

It’s been a crazy time for Liverpool’s underground party, recently christened Mixmag’s Club Of The Year along with winning plaudits and friends left right and centre. Chibuku has one of the friendliest crowds in the country and every DJ has been won over by the electric atmosphere and unique venue. The night embraces many genres of music, from the best in house and techno through to hiphop, breaks and beats, drum and bass, funk, jazz soul - whatever has a good beat really! Chibuku LIVE has already entertained The Bays, London Elektricity and Soul 2 Soul - this party at Cargo is going to be something very special indeed. We are all looking forwards to this party, it’s going to help us celebrate the fourth birthday – not to mention being very good fun!
