If you're from/close to Scotland, and not going to some other major event I'm sure CTW has planned for November 16th, Dutch producer/dj LUCIEN FOORT (yuuummmmyyyy music), will be spinning at Majestica in Edinburgh.

Progressive techy House..... Even if that's not your favorite style, after 30 minutes there, you'd change your mind. He's DYNAMITE!! wiggle.gifwiggle.gif

If you're interested, drop a note and I'll give him your name for the guestlist. smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifcool.gif

Teska, you gonna be at Majestica?! Majestica's a QUALITY club! Brilliant people, brilliant atmosphere, and The Venue is brilliant as well.

I was there for this month's bash and it was great. Trisco rocked it on the decks.

I'm pretty pissed off I'm missing Mr Foort! I would definitely be there, but I can't because it's Gatecrasher at the NEC and Underworld are playing, who unfortunately take precedence over Lucien!

If you haven't been to Majestica before you'll have a WICKED time smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Aww shame I can't be there :(

The Flying-Dreadlocks Dutchman Lucien Foort, or shall we say the Ruid Guillit of DJ’s (if you have watched this DJ play you would of course agree) is on his way to the summit of the dance mountain. Lucien Foort has developed well over recent years as a producer and DJ. He has a popular progressive & tech house sound that fits well with the likes of John Digweed, Dave Angel or Dave Clarke.

Lucien began DJing at the tender age of 14, one Sunday afternoon at a friends house; asked of he liked it, he loved it and progressed from there. Beat Street was the first record Lucien ever bought and he was quickly on his way to spinning some great tunes. Club Carrerra in Rotterdam was the first club Lucien ever played at in 1994, from dJing in his hometown to a diary full of dates all around the world. Lucien took Holland by storm when he released the worldwide hit “Quadrophonia” back in ’89. This was a smash and sent Lucien around the world promoting it to all four corners of the globe. When it comes to production Lucien has remixed for labels such as Bedrock, Positiva, 3 Beat, Cyber records and React.

Lucien is well known for his Dutch Liquid productions, which are favoured by the likes of Carl Cox, whereas his more progressive productions are under the name Funk Function and have been repeatedly licensed for many DJ mix CDs, such as Sasha, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman and Seb Fontaine. One of Lucien’s most famous remixes was for Dirty Vegas “Days Go By”; this track (in it’s original form) is currently on the Nike commercial all through America. Lucien’s most recent remix was for Trisco “Ultra” on Positiva with plays from many radio DJ’s, but most importantly Pete Tong.

2001 – Saw Lucien as a monthly resident for Sheffield based club Gatecrasher. He was selected to play there for his progressive / tech house sound that was a great base for other successful DJ’s to take the night onto complete hedonism. 2001 also saw Lucien play the main stage at Dance Valley which is a real honour for any DJ, playing in front of 50,000 out of the 100,000 that attended was as Lucien states “Awesome”. He was also a monthly resident for Dance Valley in Ibiza @ Amnesia playing with the likes of Billy Nasty and Michel De Hey.

This was also the year Lucien really developed his sound and status in Australia. He appeared on the Gatecrasher festivals throughout Australia with headliners Tall Paul, De La Soul and Roni Size, but it was the under dogs that the Aussies really loved and on many an internet message board the following day was he being praised for his style and flair. Lucien was also credited last year for his ability as a DJ, when he was nominated for a Muzik Magazine award for the “Best BBC Radio One Essential Mix” category. Lucien mixed the Fluid Recordings compilation this year with Evolution, released back in Jan ’02 and licensed all over the world. Very pleased to be requested by Fluid as it has been a label that has delivered great productions that Lucien has been able to use in many a set. Following on from appearing at many festivals / events in 2001, he was again selected to play at 2002’s Homelands event. He also appeared at GCSSS in the Bedrock arena, finishing at the early hours of 6:00am, he was then chased by many who were in the audience to his car. Keen fans desperate to hear him spin again. August 2002 also saw him play one of the headlining spots at Creamfields.

2002 – is time for Lucien to be more studio based and also concentrate on developing himself in America. With constant requests from promoters and DJ’s informing him of his demand this cannot be ignored. Vinyl in New York booked for this year with legendary club promoter Mike Bindra, Lucien is still excited and inspired by the industry he works in.

We are all looking forward to welcoming back to Majestica this tech-prog-house legend and after his last set In June you can expect to be blown away by a mammoth 4 hour set later this month. We can't wait! If you miss this you may as well hang up your clubbing boots and call It a day. Unmissable!!!

In addition to this night, Majestica is also involved in a night for charity on Saturday 30th November @ The Venue, featuring DJs from the following clubs:

Taste: Fisher & Price/Martin Valentine/Steve Wanless

Luvely: GP/Tommy K/Newton & Stone

Majestica: David Amos/Ed D/Bruno F-K/Trevor G

Soo Delicious: Si/Pete Owen

This will run on all 3 floors of the venue with Soo Delicious and Luvely on the top floor with a fashion show. Taste and Majestica are in control of the middle floor and the cream of each of these clubs backroom DJs are going to keep it funky in the cooler.

Sound good to you?

More details to follow.....

Hi Lee! I saw your pic, but will either have to carry it around on a stick at the show saying "where is this man?" or look at it a zillion times before I go, cuz once I get in the darkness of a club, its hard to see people clearly, especially just off a pic. But, I'll certainly try!!

Is there an AFTERHOURS planned?

Most impressed with your website, great [censored] your crew has done! I tell every person I meet over here involved in this industry, to try and make it to the Winter Music Conference in Miami...always in March. Its an absolute TOP marketing outlet for anyone involved and I think nothing else quite like it in the world. Check it out on the web...although I'm not sure if the dates are chosen yet. It appears you are well-established, so I imagine it would be quite advantageous for you to look into. C U soon, Cheers! smile.gif

Hi Teska

Yeah mate, we were planning to go last years conference with a few tunes my resident DJs had produced and to generally do a bit of networking and obviously the hedonistic partying as well - goes without saying grin.gif

Unfortunately the whole thing fell through and the tunes (even though they are really good) will never see the light of day. Next year though is a definate maybe - depends on how well we do with the club and whether or not we can afford it. The current priority is getting a studio together at the moment and we're starting from scratch.

You'll be able to spot me no problem at the club, even though I promote the night, you'll still see me larging it on the dancefloor with everyone else - the clubs not that big. 550 capacity. Are you coming over with Lucien and Junior by any chance cos if you are then we'll definately meet up. We will be having an after-party but it will be back in our house, I'm sure it will be cool for you to come along - after all you are coming from Holland so we'll look after you as best we can. We have had a few after hours illegal parties at different places but to be honest the police have been beggining to crack down on them and its not worth taking the chance of being raided or have a place risk losing its licence.

Thanks for the kind words and see you on the 16th. All the best.

Lee
