I'm up quite late. So I'll rant. A lot. Too much in fact.

Or quite early, depending on how you look at it.

I went down the Opera House last night for their cheesy halloween ball. It was actually quite a good laugh, bopping away to all the pop songs, then getting some glow sticks and scaring the beer girls with my mental cyber dancing when they switched to the funky house/drum and bass in the main room. Still cheesy as [censored], but a quality night. Plus I only spent a fiver all night (£1 getting in, £4 glowsticks).

Plus I stayed clean all night! I had about half a can of Stella whilst watching the Celtic - Blackburn game, and that was it! I didn't even stop to get some water when I was in there, it was quality.

Anyways, I've just finished writing a worksheet to set to some of the guys I teach tomorrow. The joys of Switchs Vs. Hubs. Oh the joys of being a Telecommunications and Networks Lecturer frown.gif. Still, plenty of time off laugh.gif

Right now I'm killing time in my office for a bit. I've got the new Eminem album, 8 Mile OST, playing. The first two songs are sheer beauty, with 'Lose Yourself' in particular standing out as a real crowd pleasing, head nodding, future classic. The man has just gone from strength to strength. Also worth checking out is the XXX OST, full of just the RIGHT sort of industrial/heavy metal, and some quality hip-hop cuts (N.E.R.D's Truth or Dare being a particular favourite)

There is also a Rammstein song to open the XXX soundtrack, Feuer Frei. Rammsteing cameo in XXX, as do Orbital, BTW (and one bloke is seen in a cyberdog top, small world eh?) Anyway, back to Rammstein. Now, in my opinion, Rammstein are nothing special. They make standard industrial metal, and I personally believe that their popularity is down to the 'gimmick' that they sing in German. Big whoppee do. I'd like to see them enjoy the same modicum of success if they sang in English, I really would.

You want a good industrial band, and I know I'm not alone here, then look at 9Inch Nails. F^ck me, some of their stuff from '89 (can't remember the album name) still sounds fresh to the day. Trent Reznor is, literally speaking, a genius. You need look no further than the Natural Born Killers OST to see his miracle touch. Taking the executive producer reigns under the strict instruction of Oliver Stone, Reznor negates the usual '12-songs-in-a-row' formula and instead splices up songs, exclusive remixes and soundbites from the film into perhaps the greatest non-dance mixtape on the market. Sheer brilliance.

Anyway, I've ranted way too long, so I'll leave with a special RIP message going out to the friends and family of Run DMC's Jam Master Jay, brutally shot dead in a recording studio (same place Tupac was shot, apparently) yesterday. Jay was truly old skool when it came to hip hop, and a legend in his own right. He has already taken his rightful place in the hip hop hall of fame. Our thoughts go out to his wife and daughter at this time.

Peace
