CTW Members fintbeast Posted December 23, 2002 Author CTW Members Share Posted December 23, 2002 Anybody who fancies something a little less frantic than tidy, get your sweet little asses down to this. Apparently the atmosphere is always awesome for the 'Xmas' bash and there will be the usual combo of funky house (dusted room) and trance (main room). Els, Ed, Rach, Helen - you guys eyeing this one up? Quote Finbar Sow and thou shalt reap, oh brother.
CTW DJs Freano Posted December 23, 2002 CTW DJs Share Posted December 23, 2002 Kev, I am impressed that you managed to write the review in the end mate , well done. Can someone tell me what time Norman Jay played? Also JUlesy did do some weird movements with his head but try telling everyone that the majority of the crowd were not reacting to it with sheer Joy! It makes the experience all the more worth while!
CTW Members Nick G Posted December 23, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted December 23, 2002 I first noticed Norman Jay on the decks at about half 2, so i'm assuming he did half 2 til half 4, cos there was some other guy on there (who also rocked the place with some wicked vocal house) for the last hour and a half. As for my earlier rating of Jules, it was based on what i saw of him whilst in there - if i'd stayed in there for the whole set i might have been a bit more impressed (though i would've missed the majority of Norman Jays set), but as it was, every time i went in there, he clanged a mix (something he shouldn't be earning a grand an hour for!!), or he was *trying* to scratch ... which he failed miserably at. CTW Admin James Posted December 23, 2002 CTW Admin Share Posted December 23, 2002 annoyed at not going to this now - sounds a [censored] riot! yep - me too - put me down for the next one - I seem to miss this posts or often find out its too late as i've already put my name down for somewhere else. When the atmosphere is that good then it cant fail to be a great night. Would not have wanted to see Jules though I'm afraid. I dont mind listening to trance in the car occasionally or when i'm working but just dont seem to enjoy dancing to it as much as i used to. Keep these nights going peeps and if there is anyone who can come forward to arranging these sorts of nights week-in week-out let me know as there is obviously a growing demand for these ! CTW DJs Freano Posted December 23, 2002 CTW DJs Share Posted December 23, 2002 Yeah, I have a bad feeling that Eddie Halliwell is headlining the next serious night so i am missing that one(but having said that if i am in London i will attend) Nick mate i will agree with you on Jules scratching and dropping accapellas, pissed me off abit, but his mixing was not to bad, at times pretty phat dropping of tunes into the mix The Syntone tune i mentioned in the tunes forum was his tune of the night. It was also so good to be nice and close to the DJ like it should be, able to shake his hand etc... Vive la Judge Jules @ The Cross

CTW Members fintbeast Posted December 24, 2002 Author CTW Members Share Posted December 24, 2002 What can I say? What a thoroughy excellent night! Did I not tell you they were a friendly crowd at the Cross - it is without doubt my fave venue. Plus, I don't care what anyone else says - nobody could look at JJ through a more jaundiced eye than me (with the possible exception of bigee), but I thought he was outfuckingstanding! I'm sorry if I didn't chat much with peeps, but I was well and truly spangled and the choons were just too good to leave alone - I didn't leave the trancefloor except for water and fresh air breaks for about 6 hours. Thanks to Els and Rach for big hugs and little kisses (little ones Matt!!), Creamy, Nick, Ed and Helen - great to see y'all again. Bebe, really lovely to meet you. If I do nothing else in January, I'll be at the Cross on the 3rd Saturday of the month....in the meantime, all have a lush Christmas and a happy New Year. CTW Members rachel Posted December 24, 2002 CTW Members Share Posted December 24, 2002 I'm glad that everyone had such a good night It is such a friendly place. It is even better in the summer with the terraces full of people chatting. It was really good to see so many of you down there. Justin i think the people you were with were my friends, there are a good bunch they can usually be found in the funky room and are always up for carrying the party on. Jay it was really good to meet you "Is that a cat or a dog" "Its a cat with a dogs nose" " Its a Dat" I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Had an amazing night with some great mates (thats you guys!), a friendly as [censored] crowd and some excellent tunes.
