Last night i went to GoodGreef, i walked in the place to see the friend who i had lent my decks and vinyl to for a mates 21st birthday a coupla months ago, said hello to him only to be told that my decks and ALL my vinyl have been stolen and that they werent insured and that basically it isnt his responsibility.... i said id speak some other time about it cos my head really couldnt take it at that time and i didnt wana completely ruin my night!!

 

I managed to salvage a few hours from the night when i felt ok, put it out of my head as much as i could then got a lil mashed!! Im determined not to let it ruin my weekend so will try and put it out of my head until its over so im guessin its gonna hit me aboutTuesday ish!!

 

Definately gonna be a suicide Tuesday!!

Sorry if that makes me sound vicious, but music is my life, and if someone turned round to me and told me that after i'd lent him my stuff and claimed that it wasn't his responsibility .....

How well do you know this guy? Is he close...You might want to ask him this question:

 

1) If they were nicked, when did he inform the police. If he didn't 'b4 I can claim', tell him...'I will need to inform them!!' (Obviously, u don't necessarily have to do anything, just asking him the question will get a response!!)

 

2) If he changes his attitude completely, ask's why you want to involve them ect, when you ask him this, assume he will prolly be able to track your stuff down, and press him to do this.

 

3) If he doen't change his attitude, then assume they really were stolen, inform the police, and claim on your/ or his household / credit card, or any other insurance you both might have.

So he's had them for 2 months and didn't have the balls to let you know til he saw you out, I'd have thought any "decent" person would have rang you straight away to let you know.

 

More likely he flogged em cos he needed the cash or had a party and got so mashed he didn't notice some random walking out the front door with them !!!

 

As for it not being his responsibility, you lent them to him so they were...time to get the money back, even if he pays it to you monthly.

I know, i guess i am a bit of a pushover like that

 

Iv been tryin to come up with ideas etc but i just cant think of anythin, all im thinkin is that all my fuckin vinyl has gone, i mean decks, yeah im gutted about them but my fuckin vinyl, that aint easily replaced if at all cos i got vinyl off djs themselves signed etc (ie signum gave me what ya got for me and signed it, im never gonna get that again am i)

Claire, I can't imagine how gutted you must feel, but it's happended before to someone I know and it turns out they were never knicked, he flogged them.

 

He will think he can get away with it but he can't and that's that. Ians advice was good, you've got to be tough with him and quiz him about how and when, who else did he tell/live with and did he inform the police, if not, why not. He'll slip up somewhere.

 

As for the records, yes it will be hard but while ever Signum is still alive, you can get another copy signed. Don't you know any BIG blokes who'd do you a favour ?

U don't need to actually go to the old bill. Just make out to him that u are!! That will tell u if he sold yr vinyl n decks, or if it was really nicked.

 

Once u know that u can proceed, as above.

I find it pretty hard to believe that someone would steal all your vinyl. If I was a thief I'd have your decks, cos they cost alot and are pretty light and easy to sell on. Vinyl on the other hand weighs a [censored] tonne and isn't really worth the hastle of nicking in my opinion. Sorry to hear this anyway, hopefully 2003 will be a better year all round for you !!!
