CTW Members Blink Posted February 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted February 3, 2003 Everyone always goes on about hoovers in hard house, but I have never heard one, what am I listening for?
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted February 3, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted February 3, 2003 If you listen to a lot of hard house then you've probably heard one! It's not a sample of a real hoover or anything. I think there's an old analogue synth that used to make the definitive "hoover" sound. Unfortunately, about 20,000 unimaginitive hard house producers managed to taint the entire genre by sampling exactly the same sound in all their tunes! Umm sorry, I can't think of a way to describe the sound. I'd give you an example of a tune, but I've sold / given away / destroyed all my old records which had the faintest sniff of a hoover in them!! My other hard house pet hate - that samey cliched offbeat bassline. BOM-Dmm BOM-Dmm BOM-Dmm BOM-Dmm... All bloody night. Use some imagination hard house producers! CTW Members TomD Posted February 4, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted February 4, 2003 blink- you know "are you all ready" by tony de vit, well that's one of the all time classic hoover "choons".... and liquideyes- dysons at ten paces! fair point though, a lot of the time it's difficult to see the originality in some hh tunes.
