CTW Admin James Posted March 30, 2004 CTW Admin Share Posted March 30, 2004 All, Anyone who is just getting into music production - I seriously recommend the following magazines ... Music Tech Magazine Computer Music Myself and Andy (LiquidEyes) went to the Sounds Expo show in London recently and we signed up to Music Tech magazine - I hadn't heard of it before and they were giving away the current issue plus a free set of sample CDs for like £5... Anyway, I just got through the next issue (April) and I have to say i'm VERY impressed with their tutorials - especially their "Ten Minute Master" series ... And in this months edition you get a free mini booklet describing 23 of the essential methods, theories & practices regarding music making. I have been reading these as I journey into work each day and I'm very impressed - they are really well written and quick and easy to understand - no pissing about, a just quick guide to what is what - perfect for the beginner. If you only buy one copy of music tech magazine i recommend you buy it this month and gain this invaluable guide ! Personally I also find the tutorials much better as well when compared to Computer Music (although I buy both still) - they tend to cut the bullshit and not go into the things you've been told time and time before. They also dont try to 'beef up' the magazine with loads of screen prints in their tutorials. To sum up they are plain english and VERY well written. http://www.musictechmag.co.uk/ ps. I'm not been paid to say this honest ! Quote James@ClubTheWorld.uk CTW Admin | ClubTheWorld.uk | Twitter | Instagram Clubbing the world, together ... CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted March 30, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted March 30, 2004 I'll second that: I've been pleased with all 3 issues so far (including one from before the music show). They were practically giving it away at the show - £5 for a 3-issue trial subscription, a sample CD with every copy, and an additional free sample CD at the show ... bargain! Not too many adverts in the magazine either - plenty of decent content. A bit less patronising than Computer Music, but a bit more down-to-earth than Future Music (who seem to assume their readers are minted!!)
