(just thought id bung this in its proper (i think!!!) place as well, enjoy!)

What follows is a review of Sundissential North. By Zen Master. And his cabbage. Wurble.

Hello and good evening Club the World.

My name is Matthew and i am going to jibber on pointlessly for a bit about my opinions on SSNorth last sunday.

Firstly the good bits, as i always think things should begin on a high note.

The Venue:

Club Evolution is a truly superb venue for an event as large as Sundissential. The club is clean, well maintained. well decorated. The lighting equipment is especially good, as anyone who witnessed the truly amazing laser shows will attest to. The staff are, by and large, pleasant and well trained and the security are professional and very good at what they do. The security policies of Sundissential i will not go into at this time, but said policies were carried out to the letter by the staff on duty.

The Clubbers:

With an event as large and as well known as this, it would be difficult to keep away the much moaned about "pikey" element that appears to dog clubbing at every turn. However, i saw a much smaller percentage of pikeys at this event than i did at the last north, which can only be a good thing.

As always, the fluffy boots and fluero gear was out in abundance which, although not to my personal taste, at least shows effort on behalf of the clientele.

The people in attendance were friendly and having fun for the most part which as we all know is what clubbing should be about. There were a few casualties like there always is, but not to the point where this was a problem.

The only real issue with regards to the people in there was that there were far too many, making for a very sweaty ambience!

The music:

The tunes played on the day were a mixed bag of bounce, hoovers, trance and cheese, as always. Prime cuts (for me at least) include the hardest of hard [censored] Hostile, and a welcome replay of classic Are you Ready?

The music policy i found slighty skew-whiff however as the main room at times played harder than the Vicious Circle room. of course this was down to the Djs in question, but a forced distinction between the two would have been welcome in my eyes.

Another welcome change would be in the line up, as it is possible to compare the playing order to this time last year, and notice minimal differences.

The Bad Bits:

Knackered toilets:

More of an annoyance than anything else, but still enough to tarnish the experience. How much does a new bolt cost for a toilet door? True, not technically the fault of Madders et al, but still fairly annoying.

Cost:

This for me is the worst end of Sunny D, ie the outrageous money that a day like this can cost you. Although i was on the guest list due to me writing this ere review, i have attended sundissential when i was not and had to fork out the really rather stupid £18 door tax. Add to that the price of drinks in there (£3 for an average bottle of alcopop, £2:50 for water) and it can work out to be a very expensive day.

To conclude, Sundissential is an experience, and one i would recommend to anyone, but it is far from perfect.

However the point arises that no matter what Madders etc does, he packs the place every time and therefore it is unlikely that he will change the formula anytime soon.

There is one piece of advice i would like to finish off with, one that is aimed at the Sundissential promotion team and the owners of club evolution:

TURN THE [censored] AIR CONDITIONING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many thanks to Sarah (who got me in for nowt) and a big hello to all the CTWer's i met over this last weekend, it was a genuine pleasure putting faces to names and i hope to see you all again very soon. (damnation next monthany body????)

Once again, thank you and good night!

Matt
