CTW Moderators Maria Posted March 16, 2003 CTW Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2003 Is sooo [censored] hard! Iv spent about 4 hours on the decks today, to send out a tape for sum feedback. Of course it aint guna be perfect, but feedback helps the improvement. But, dont you just hate it when u cant get the beat matching perfect to bring the next one in? grrr practice makes perfect and all that with a little bit of patience but its annoying! grrrr Il get there! CTW Members jon_m Posted March 16, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 16, 2003 Its easy!! pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, vreeerrrr vrrreeerrr!!! have you tried getting the two of the same record and simply mixing them 2getha? i never learnt this way but know peeps who swear by it, kinda makes sense to me tho, you know theyr gonna play at same speed(depending on how good ur decks are!) so basically u get to practice listening to what it should sound like when the beats are in. teachs you to be accurate and keep beats tight, give it a go, other than that my only other advise wud be to make sure u got good headfones as they are crucial!! one ear on, one off with a speaker facing ear off ear. hope this helps

(the same record will go at same speed then) i had choice of those or mkII 1200s opted for the latter as iv always loved the silver colour. not alot of difference to be fair, mine look nicer i thought
CTW Moderators Maria Posted March 16, 2003 Author CTW Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2003 (the same record will go at same speed then) You see, this is the trouble with mixing them in. One record sounds faster when i beat match. Now il increase or decrease the speed to make it the same as the other. It will beat match, then it seems to go faster or slower again! ragh! I like practising with the records playing as fast as possible to help speed up this process ! (i.e. they will go out sooner) Quote James@ClubTheWorld.uk CTW Admin | ClubTheWorld.uk | Twitter | Instagram Clubbing the world, together ... You need to be in control and notice when it does start to wander and be able to correct it before it's noticable.
CTW Moderators Maria Posted March 16, 2003 Author CTW Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2003 it may sound ok for 10 seconds or so then start going out - you just need to perfect it. That's the exact that is happeneing! It is well annoying. But practice makes perfect. And perfect I will be! Im going for it again. This is my 4th attempt doing a tape. Its guna be good. Look out for postman pat! hahaha Quote ClubTheWorld.com's OFFICIAL Events Reviewer

CTW Members jon_m Posted March 16, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted March 16, 2003 best advice i ever heard concerning beat matching was simple - you can always be more accurate! thats all that was said to me, i then thought deeply into it as i mixed and it all started coming together! listen to the record while queing and keep fiddling with pitch little bits at time til theyr in in the headfones 4 say 1 minute, dunno longer than 10 secs tho dunno but failing that practice practice and more practice remember you can always be more accurate and you never stop improving either gud luk chuck! CTW Admin James Posted March 16, 2003 CTW Admin Share Posted March 16, 2003 as nick says - try to correct the speed in time before it goes too much out - dont just start all over again. You should be able to push the record gently to either slow or speed up and at the same time very fractionally move the pitch up or down to suit - eventually it will be spot on. i used to just take the needle off and keep starting again - its a waste of time - you just need to correct the record very slightly and adjust pitch. (btw, i am no expert but i just watched the DJs in clubs and noticed this technique!) its great that you arent afraid to ask questions maria and that you are putting in lots of effort and enjoying it so much at the same time.
